I belive that all the Stockport 200 MMC's are in service. I saw 26145 at the Chorlton Park crossroad yesterday on the 25.

They are very distinctive when viewed from the rear with their full size destination displays:-

(1) Scaffold Pole Hits Bus Full of Pupils and (2) Greener Buses in Lancaster.

1. Scaffold Pole hits Bus Full of Pupils.

Wigton, Cumbria. Article in this week's News and Start and Cumberland News.

"The window, on the top deck , was broken when the Stagecoach bus was turning a corner in High Street Wigton and caught the scaffolding construction on the first story of the building."

No-one was injured. The school children got to school safely. Looking at the photo it appears to be a red Schoolrunner branded Trident. The scaffolding appears to be set up ok at kerb and ground floor level but some part of the scaffolding appears to be projecting at first floor level.

"The scaffolder has accepted liability."

2. Greener Buses in Lancaster

Was visiting relatives in Lancaster who had a leaflet through the door "Green View Autumn 2017, News and views from the Green Party in Castle ward no 74".

"Cleaner buses arriving soon.

17 Stagecoach buses operating via the city centre will be retro-fitted with new technology using a government grant of £288k. The new tech should reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions."

Anyone know which 17? Is this part of a larger conversion?

The bus was 17198 which has been working the Kirkbampton-Kirkbride-Nelson Thomlinson School service since 16793 was transferred to West Cumbria. No serious damage and no injuries, hardly worth reporting it in the press except schoolchildren were on the bus!

If it sells papers or gets traffic to their site, they'll run any old poo. Modern Press for you.

All that means is some of our buses will be replaced by older buses fitted with replacement engines....it will be a retrograde step. Probably find the oldest deckers in the fleet will get removed and the reengined ones will go on the 2/2A
Biggest question is, who offers a plugin hybrid system for existing buses?

Once again, a passenger survey as taken place on my local route.

The last time, a passenger survey took place, my local services were cut by 70%.

I just hope it doesn't mean that my local service is being cut by 70% again!

With most of the new Scanias 15295-305 now in service on Route X2 Preston-Southport-Liverpool a number of Preston's Tridents have been put into reserve at Gillmoss. Noted so far are 18354-56/64/66/72 MX55KPE/F/G/KPT/V/Y which are appearing in service from Gillmoss when Arriva buses are on strike.

First day of the Greyhound bridge closure in Lancaster, going to last for six months.
The 2/2A/3/4 services crossing the river have been split into north/south portions with everyone changing at Lancaster bus station. 40/42 are terminating at Lancaster.
My son said Stagecoach appear to have pulled in a large number of spare vehicles from around the country to try and beat the expected congestion, including several green single deckers (presumably from Kendal). Might be a chance to find a rarity or two.

I know quite a few '55' plate ALX400 Tridents displaced from Preston have headed up to Lancaster for use during the bridge closure......

Had the following email from Stagecoach, on 21st January, who seem to think Greyhound Bridge is closed for only 6-weeks

Hi there,

From 29 January Greyhound Bridge will be closed for 6 weeks for essential maintenance work.

As a result, we will will be investing in extra buses and drivers to maintain good levels of service, however this will affect journey times.

We will also be splitting some services in Lancaster to ensure reliability, and this may affect your journey.

6 weeks?
They're in for a surprise then!

Over 12-months ago, when it was first announced that Greyhound Bridge was to be closed for repairs, it was supposed to be closed for upto 9-months, then it was reduced 6-months! Then I received an email from Stagecoach saying 6-weeks!, either Stagecoach know something that nobody else knows or they don't know the difference between a week and a month..........

Has anyone seen NW/M&SL and Manchester FleetCards for the latest Period yet? Last I saw was period 8 (11 November onwards). I understand a number of buses have (finally) disappeared from Wigan, but no disposal details are known. Indeed some might have just been re-located around the company.

I saw 35158 on the 6A yesterday in Morecambe. Is that here temporarily while greyhound bridge is closed or is it based in the white Lund now? My book is a couple of years old and says its allocated in Hartlepool.

35158 has been over here since August. Moved around the C&NL depots a bit, but definitely now at home in this part of the world.

Thanks for that mbonwick. I've sort of lost track of the local bus scene in the last couple of years but I'm trying to get back to it.

Reports elsewhere suggest they are for 10A. Not knowing these routes, are either suitable for Scania s? Also 15587 has been excluded from other lists

the 82/86 is mostly Decker operated currently and the 10A Arriva run also and use Deckers
I should have been clearer, I meant Scania s rather than standard E400s. Hyde road had Scania s taken of them due to being overpowered and fuel guzzling on stop start services.

They aren't, the 10A's PVR is more than the number of vehicles which have transferred.

Will SGNW be helping out at Parklife again this year? If so is it known which buses will be involved?
