Class 317?
Nope.
Class 317?
My second guess is Class 319 then.
At last!
Well done As well as using Brush components the other locomotive mentioned was actually fitted from new as were the 60s with a major component from another former Hawker Sidderley Group company, by the early 70s if not earlier this was replaced by a unit from another manufacturer so for a bonus point what class of loco was this?
I'm not sure but is it something to do with 47601 which then became 47901?
Edit - It's not is it? I just looked up Ruston and they were based in Lincolnshire.
Congratulations on your 3000th posting Mr Cowley
Oh and you're correct there....it's not that one!
3000 posts! Thank you, most of them have been used up trying to get this question right.
I could put you out of your misery if you wish?
Looking at the shape of those windows I'm inclined to suggest a 153?
Got it! (Maybe)
Mirrlees Engines manufactured in Hazel Grove, Stockport.
Original Mirrlees fitted class 30 (Brush type 2) re-engined with English Electric engines due to poor quality Stockport product.
The factory was demolished about three or four years ago finally.
Am I right. Am I right?
Couldn't ask for a more concise answer there Mr Cowley, the bonus points are all yours.
(I suppose you could argue that Mirrlees got their own back in a small way some years later when BR installed a Mirrlees engine in EE Type 3 37901?)
Is it a 318 Superalbs? And did you notice that I'd said 320 earlier?
Thanks If that's Bletchley why is the 150 displaying Worcester Shrub Hill via Bromsgrove on its destination panels??
See what you make of this one...I really don't think it'll last long,
Not sure why, said Birmingham New Street on the other end.
That's got to be a Class 142?
Is that a class 350 EMU?
Nope, same train family though, thought that might have been a little easy!
Right, I'll try a 3rd rail DC version then....class 450?
Ah, 444.
Thanks, Beginning to scrape the barrel again for shots now but have a look at this...
Blimey that was quick, well doneI'm going to guess the 'Bombardier Voyager' vinyl Class 221.
I'll throw a Cross Country 170 into the hat although I don't think it is?
