It is still at Penzance at the moment. I wonder when it will be in use? There is a rail replacement weekend in April in East Cornwall so maybe then.

They’ve mentioned in that Facebook group there is some works in the West in March they are aiming to be ready for. The vehicle isn’t yet signed off

There are plenty of rail works in the west over the next few months of this year:

19th - 22nd March: Works in Redruth area and on the St. Ives line. No mainline trains Truro to Penzance although services on the branch line between Truro and Falmouth Docks will continue to run albeit to an amended timetable.

Good Friday 30th March - Tuesday 03rd April inclusive (Easter Weekend): no trains through Bristol Temple Meads due to signalling recontrol works. Buses to replace trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway / Weston-s-Mare / Taunton / Bath Spa / Severn Beach.

Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd April: No main line trains to operate between St. Austell to Plymouth but it is uncertain if some of the Cornwall branchlines may continue to run regardless.

Saturday 28th April: Buses to replace trains through the Plymouth area.

Tuesday 12th - Thursday 14th June: No trains Taunton / Tiverton Parkway to Exeter St. Davids. No trains also between Barnstaple and Exeter St. Davids on these dates as Cowley Bridge Junction will also be closed.

Thanks Dave,

The work on 21st and 22nd April is the switch on of the Cornwall signalling enhancement scheme for east Cornwall.

West Cornwall will follow in October.

Thanks for that. I am not a fan of modern signalling and am glad that the semaphores are staying put for now.

Uni E400 MMC 33472 was on the 15:30 U1 service from Richard Lander School to Carnon Downs via Devoran, with its destination blind displaying 'Special Service', although it carries the U1 route number it is technically is just a school bus as it doesn't carry any U1 passengers as it skips Truro bus station and runs express between the school and Devoran, but it is not rare for a Uni bus to operate the service

Uni E400 33420 was parked up at Truro bus station out of service at 15:30, probably awaiting a Truro College duty, although not entirely sure if it has moved since yesterday as I saw it parked up in the same spot yesterday at 14:00 and there was a couple if staff on the bus so it could of been playing up

Tinner E400MMC 33458 has no branding above the passenger entrance and exit door and a fleet number applied in non standard font. It is noticeably larger than the other side. Wondering if it has had some bodywork repairs?

33479 and another Uni MMC at Camborne this morning.

There was a Solo on service A17 this evening.

Wasn’t one of them off the road for some weeks for repairs after an RTA?

33452 had front end repairs and carries a non standard front fleet number in a different position to normal. 33454 had repairs to the back end after a car collided with it.

I think the latter is the one you refer to, it was off the road for quite some time.

That would be the one I think. Perhaps another one in the wars?

After a dearth of dds on the A17 earlier in the week, Tinner 33250 and Uni 33220 are on it today: meanwhile the U4 has Tinner 33256 on it. Isn't routebranding grand?

Interesting seeing 30874 back in Camborne today looking a lot more together than when I last saw it, now has the contactless payment branding on it so may return to service soon. Also noticed a few of the 53 plate TransBus Pointer 2 Darts have been given a tidy up with 42872 & 42873 both being repaneled, 42873 was doing 47's today while 42874 still with its original rural development fund sticker was doing 39A's, would be nice to see them painted in the new Kernow green as they're obviously still proving their worth!

I think you have got the fleet numbers wrong, the Tinner and Uni MMC's are 334xx.

Agree they could do with a repaint and interior refresh.

You're almost certainly right, tried to remember them, not being otherwise able to jot them down. Those last two numbers are right though - about sixty years since I ceased bus-spotting!

Big news guys!

Do you remember first bus announcing new buses for the east of Cornwall? Scania E400 MMCs are the double deckers coming in. The plates are in --18 --- format.

368-- is the fleetnumber format at the moment, they will all be in the two-tone universal green colours and are all going to Camborne. The other two I don't know about yet, and there is no news on the E200 MMCs either yet.

You should see some starting from the 1st of march, as that's when the 18 plates come along.

I had a gut feeling that the next lot would be Scania/ E400MMC’s, no inside information other than an engineer praising the demo bus up when it was down here.

The 368xx numbers will presumably follow on from the Bristol batch?
Wonder if they will get Cornish registrations as well?

I will look out for them in the coming weeks. Presume they are still planned for service 27?
