Starting at Three Bridges ASC on the 3rd

I was initially told by the LOM that signal school was at York but now have heard twice it is Basingstoke which will be a much easier travel!

All I now know is thatI start on the 3rd and school starts on the 9th. Nothing else or no details so far......
Looks like we're doing the same thing then!

All I've got aside from that is the training roster.

Thanks Tom, I hope it is a 12 as I would be commuting about an hour to get there, so a 12 would be better for me and also hopefully ensure i travel out of rush hour times too!!!!!

Can anyone confirm and/or give me a sample rota??

Also when/if it is being relocated, will it be Basingstoke or TBROC??
Basingstoke. Not until post CP6 at the very earliest; so after 2024

Just applied for a signaller role to find that there is a new test that needs to be completed. Its the logical reasoning test. I had already passed the others and had applied for other jobs days before without worrying about having to do another test but it seems as though they have added another test to the application process.

I have an application that has been sitting at 'Application under consideration for assessment 2' for over two weeks. From what I've been reading, doesn't it generally change to pending within the week or so if shortlisted for interview?

It's no dramas, I'll keep chipping away and I'm sure I'll get there eventually :)

Assessment 2 is the interview. If you're selected, your next status will be "Invite to Assessment 2 Pending". Good Luck.

Everything in this business takes ages, I applied for a position in May last year, got the job in July, just passed signal school last week.

ive been at invite to assessment 2 pending on one of my apps since Jan 15. Not quite sure what that means to be honest as normally you get the interview invite within days of the status change. Just had another 2 apps turn to invite to assessment 2 pending so hopefully I will get an interview and more importantly a new career soon

Okay, thanks for all your input guys. It seems the recruitment process for NR has no clear structure and is sometimes a little discombobulated.

Yes, I too would love a new career, working on the railways seems dead exciting

Not always that quick. There’s lots of variables. Such as LOM availability etc. Days seems optimistic! Keep positive.

Hi did anyone on here apply for the grade 2 job at beighton I passed the online tests then my application changed from applying for that vacancy to be put in for a grade 4 job at Barnsley it's been sat on application for assessment 2 since December

Applied for Beighton 28/11 and got email 14/12 saying I’m being considered for the next stage. My application also now says Barnsley G4 which I’m 99% sure it didn’t in November. Better for me being a Barnsley South fan right end of town

Hi All. Found out yesterday it was a “no” for the Arundel roles. Still got one three bridges, Wimbledon and West Hampstead outstanding. Getting really demoralised with unsuccessfuls....I wonder what the average application numbers are before success! Anyone here been lucky enough to get the Arundel job?

I made 36 before I got offered two jobs in 10 days...took 5 years, in that five years I sat and passed (level 3) the paper based Signaller assessments and had three interviews including the two I was offered.

It’s a very very long road but it worth it believe me !

I am intrigued as to what a roughly average day is like as a signaller.
What's your first job when you arrive for your shift? What are your colleagues like? Are there any differences between the nature of your work when you work nights/days?

Tom Quinine, your post gives me hope they if you keep working hard at it, you'll get there in the end. Cheers!

Almost impossible to answer, because it depends on what type of Box you are in, mechanical, panel, or ROC.
For me in a single manned mechanical AB Box the first thing, whatever time of day, was doing the handover with the previous guy, finding out if anything had happened during his shift, anything broken, anything altered, anything notified for my shift, anyone likely to visit, in fact any and everything.
Then get the kettle switched on!
