Hello mate. I’m at Freightliner on Friday for stage 2 of the assessment centre. From a practical point of view, what’s parking like on site? Also were you there for the whole day? If so, did you take food with you? These might seem like stupid questions but I don’t want to be sat in the interview with my stomach rumbling!
I got the train in mate and no I was there for 3 hours.

Cheers for the reply Zeuscannon. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find the computer tests? Think that’s the only thing I’m anxious about as you can’t really practice them.

Make sure you get lots of sleep the night before as you'll be looking at a grey box change colour for 30 mins! Then the other one is like a memory game, you have like 1 second to look a picture then answer questions on it. And the coordination one is like a computer game. Just stay calm and you'll be fine

Last question, how did you find the interviews?

Shirt tie trousers and shoes is all you need pal
Cheers mate, I was thinking that but what if I somehow pass and end up having the interviews, it'll be suit then surely? So maybe I'm better off getting a suit now?

Did everyone here print out all the pratice material for the tests? I have all the stuff they emailed me and I've also bought the practice PDF's from The OPC, overall theres like 150 pages and I don't own a printer, I'll have to go to the library to print it and that'll be like £45. I'll pay it if I have to obviously but wondering if everyone else printed?

Cheers :)

I'm the same except it was the 30th, I'm constantly replaying and niggling over it. Whilst I'd not be happy to fail I'd rather have an answer than this waiting.

I was there on the 29th as well, looks like we got another week to wait yet, worst thing is I’m pretty sure it’s going to be bad news as lost track in the beep test and as I was handing the group bourdon test back I noticed one block of 4 I’d missed in part 1 so not hopeful at all but would rather know!

Did you go with the Shunter or Trainee job in the end?

Did you go with the Shunter or Trainee job in the end?

I applied initially for the shunt job, did the at home VSE & SJT tests, then got invited to the assessment day for a trainee driver so not sure if they just letting me do my testing with you guys and if I did get through I’d be doing the shunt job or they’d put me on straight as a driver. I not asked them though thought I would cross that bridge if I was lucky enough to make it through!

How’s it gone with you? Where you up to with things?

I originally applied for the Shunt job but when the trainee stuff came out I withdrew and went for that. I remember the girl telling me that all the Shunt/trainee tests are the same, I’m just guessing that the Shunt won’t be enhanced scores.

I did my stage 1 assessments on 31st so have my fingers crossed.

Ah right that could be a blessing in disguise for me then! Hopefully we find out soon!

Good luck

It’s 86 pages of the main book I seem to recall. I printed it and joined it with a treasury tag (ideal I thought, however I then realised to do the practice tests I needed some pages loose lol). Schoolboy error :)

Yeah 80 odd seems about right, but I have bought all the extra practices ones off their website, and they each come with answer sheets. Plus I've got the free sample questions off their site, so overall there are a lot of pages haha. Might try and whittle the amount I actually need prointing down and head to a library haha.

Cheers.

I found out last thursday! Sat stage 1 in crewe on the 23rd

Afternoon guys, I've done all my assessments and manager interview in July I've passed everything and I'm on the December course with the people that pass these assessments. If you need and advice or help please let me know I'll do my best to help!
I would like some help please.. can you give tips to help pass for each test. Or if you have any material I can use to practice. I have already got the bourdon test, I have been searching for the low tones whilst searching for a particular item but have had no luck.

For low tones, there's one video on YouTube, (search tea-occ and you should find it), and also if you Google "low tones test track 1" you'll find another. They're both a fair bit harder than the actual test so if you can do them you'll be fine :)

Cheers mate, did you print black and white or does it have to be colour?

Cheers
I printed the large document black and white and the DFFT one in colour as it’s only a few pages. Black and white is okay but certain parts are clearer in colour and easier to navigate such as the observation test and the dials.

Nope, you? Tomorrow is the last day. They said not to call within two weeks so I’ll call them on Monday if I haven’t heard :)
Yeah they've got a lot of results to send out tomorrow if they don't want to be deluged with phone calls on Monday!
