Hi kendo!

Congrats on getting through the process. I can see you’ve been jumped on by several candidates haha but I was hoping you could DM with any of your kind advice for myself as well. Anything would be perfect I’m currently awaiting a date for my DMI so just hoping to get as prepared for this as I possibly can.

Thanks so much in advance

No problem visiting a depot for me is really important it shows that you've made an effort. Tbh it wouldn't look great if you haven't made that effort. I personally seen this as a massive oppourtunity so doing that bit extra and showing the interviewers how keen and enthuastic you're, will stand you in good stead.

Thanks I read on here you need to post 5 times prior to being able to send a private mail. Not sure how accurate this is however ties in with not being able to send mail

There's loads of people on this forum with lots of great advice and guidance. The better prepared and knowledge you have will help for each stage.

I read through all the forums over 100 times using all the info about each stage.
For me this this was a massive opportunity to start a new exciting career that doesn't come around too often. I studied harder for each stage than I've ever done. I thought about the job/interview 24/7 wrote down every possible interview question researched about the role of a driver, practised all the material they sent me everyday.
All the information and advice is there, good luck to everyone if one small bit of advice can help someone why not help

The forum helps massively!! Take the time to read it and it will give you a good insight to the Role and whats required during the recruitment process etc. 100% you make the effort to visit a depot, but before doing that make sure you know your stuff, so you can go in and clarify any questions. Folk in the depots are very helpful.

Good luck!

Hello all,
Firstly passed stage one on Tuesday, and must thank you to everyone on here, I found it all really helpful and I'm not an overly smart man so it must have been the clincher :D

I have the usual questions about the dmi, as booked in for 2 weeks time, although with an ops manager not a driver, which I hope isint a bad sign. With regards to visiting depots did you guys just rock up at one or try and book something in, also any that might be a bit friendlier? I'm based in EK, so have a selection with the 45mins time they mentioned (I think) on the original posting, basically any Glasgow depot, Motherwell or even at a push Ayr.

Kendo could I also be a pain and maybe ask for the info you have?

Thanks again all.

Maybe email the recruitment team, as I passed the assessments on tuesday just gone (26th) and had an email by lunch time Wednesday with a date and time. They also said you need to respond within 48hrs to confirm, just in case it's gone to your spam?

All I've had is an email stating they'd be in 'touch in the coming weeks to advise you of the next stage of the recruitment process'. Been checking spam and junk daily but definitely nothing there. Sending a mail to HR team is a good shout...

You must seek written authority to visit any depot as they are a working environment. The problem is finding staff available to escort you round.
Also, Ayr depot is now a pile of rubble!

If anyone is visiting a depot I would recommend contacting recruitment for the email address of the dmi at the depot you are in for and arrange a visit through them instead of just turning up as you may not be able to speak to anyone.

Remember there are different managers doing the interviews and they don't all do it the same way. Everyone asking for advice from one person's experience may not be the best idea if you get someone else.

Hi scotraildriver

Thanks for the info. Currently trying to prepare for the interview & just looking for as many different areas to cover as possible. If Kendo has even 1 small piece that could be beneficial I thought it would be better to find out rather than keep quiet.
Take on board what you say though.

Cheers
