Thanks to my Cardiff trip today and my first time spotting from platforms 6&7 of Central, I now have 27 of the Pacer numbers for the vinyls confirmed! I have updated the livery list on page 9 :)

158826 and 158839 both in white were leaving Wolverhampton at 17:15 heading for Birmingham. Must be one of the first all white pairings.

158836 is now TFW livery. I'm currently sitting on 830 at Shrewsbury and 836 is on the next platform. 836 looks very shiny.

Definitely white. Had this discussion before with @craigybagel that the punters are definitely going to get confused anywhere on the North Wales line when our repainted voyager turns up. It's near enough the same colour as TfW .

Good image of the TfW 230 on the Creation of 230 thread if anyone has the know how to post it here. Still think a dark green band across the window line would enhance the appearance and help re any potential confusion as outlined above. Not sure if anyone would confuse a 230 with a voyager or if they would ever meet.

Hmm, to my eyes the 158s look silver and red, and the 175s look white and red.

There was a Post and Pictures on a Group who said all 4 x 158s were seen at Shrewsbury yesterday within half an hour.

most or all pacers now re-branded with temporary vinyls?
I've updated the list now; it's at least 29 of the 30 but 610 didn't seem to be out today. Next to each of the numbers of the other Pacer units I've put the vinyl text. The 142s all say the same thing but the 143s have one of three different "messages" depending on the individual unit!

Thank you for that. Maybe the identical "message" on all of the 142's reflects reactions to or feedback on the 3 "trial" messages on the 143's which were done first?

I have to say, as smart as it looks, is it not just a little bit of a waste of money in applying new TfW livery to the 158s and 175s, given that they'll begin to leave the franchise in 2-3 years (and then subsequently have to be repainted again into the colours of whichever companies take them on)? Wouldn't be surprised if it is well into next year by the time the last 175 is repainted.

The costs aren't huge, and once they move on a base white livery makes subsequent rebranding easier: for example if the 158s moved to Northern it's a simple job of adding the blue ends; doing the doors white at the cab ends and blue at the inners; and sticking the branding and silly coloured bubbles on.

It is also part of the vehicle maintenance regime. Paint is there primarily to protect the bodyshell.
