To anyone who has recently sat their DMI - are they still mentioning that they're trying to fill the October course? Just wondering whether it's been filled yet. Trying to sort out some personal commitments.

Impossible to say. It varies by depot, so the course may not be full, but all the spaces for a given depot are.

Evening all,

First post here but have been reading for a while - I've made an error which I'll outline below but wonder if anyone can cast any light on my issue please?

I've passed first and second stage assessments and got the email to book my DMI slot on Friday; unfortunately I didn't see this email and only realised I had it today, when I received a reminder to book. When I went on the portal, all slots had gone and the only option was to hit the "Unsuitable dates/times button".

I have separately sent an email to the recruitment email address for First Group but wondered if anyone else had made this error previously and could offer any insight into whether they rearrange or can find a work around at all, as I'm a bit worried I've blown it...?

If you haven’t already, definitely try and speak to them. I don’t want to put a downer on things, but from experience, they’re reluctant to reschedule. It may be different if you were unable to book an interview in the first place however. Good luck!

Thanks Stigy, I am hopeful! Feel rather silly for having missed the email, but hoping to speak to someone about there being no available appointments to me!

To be honest mate I wouldn’t rely on them getting the email, I would phone and leave a message or try and get through to someone. I’ve not heard anyone missing it before but I’m sure they must be able to rearrange!

That's my DMI done. I have no idea how that went, it felt like it didn't take enough time more than anything. The GWR people were fantastic and helped me relax. Even let me go back to a question when I completely forgot a word.
Now comes the waiting game again and... I am petrified.

I was told I'd likely be on the October course if successful last Friday, applied for HEX/Paddington.

What stage you at mate?

Filled the application form in and did the two online tests 5 weeks ago. I keep logging in to the website to see if anything has changed regarding my application even though I know they would make contact with me when anything does change.

I was 5 months between online testing and stage 1. A pal applied and failed the online bit so I'd imagine they're just waiting to get some dates for you all

Which route would u driving if placed at Reading depot, I know you will start in Reading as your starting point, but then to where? Does anyone know?

Yup. And checked the emails on the website too to see what emails have been sent. Nothing there. I've been very, very ritualistic about checking everything all week! XD

It’s the computer tests and sjt, We did the SJT first took about 25 minuets, then the computer tests took about an hour they tell you if you pass them while your there. If you do you then have your MMI

Reading - Oxford
Reading - Basingstoke
Reading - Newbury / Bedwyn
Maidenhead - Marlow
Twyford - Henley-on-Thames
Slough - Windsor

In addition you may drive Reading - Gatwick whilst training depending which link your instructor is in, then you’ll sign it yourself after approx 5-6 years qualified.

I just checked the FG site to have a look and see if there was any new emails as I do now and again and my entire application has gone. Is this a thing when an application has been open for over a year or have I been booted? Nobody has said anything to me. Iv sent off an email to HR to see what's what.

I last spoke to HR about a month ago and they assured me I was still very much in the queue for PZ and to sit tight.

Hope iv not lost my place

I went for a non-driver role and that application disappeared after a year. Maybe it’s just an automatic thing? Hopefully HR will confirm for you.

Still radio silence, apart from a response to my follow-up saying I will hear as soon as they have a record of the outcome. I'm back at work today for the first time since my interview, so I have a few more things to distract me so I haven't been checking my emails as regularly!
