Cannot tell you how relieved I am! My train from winsford to Liverpool is currently expected at 10:08 as opposed to 10:07. Majorly relieved that one element of stress has been removed from what is going be to an already stressful day!

What would have happened to the passengers on the last train from Glasgow to Euston who were dumped off the train at Preston?

I
I would also be surprised if the line is fixed as quickly as NRES is suggesting (Wednesday morning) I would have thought its more likely to be the end of the week or maybe Monday of the next.

I assume you are just a casual observer then not a rail engineering professional. :E

The lunchtime regional news (around 1315) was reporting the line still blocked.

Meanwhile Open Train Times revealed everything running to time (or within a few minutes).

Not helpful.

Did you complain to them? I would have if I had heard it.

Via Manchester, it would have been possible to get as far as Crewe, Warrington, or Wigan at least by train relatively straightforwardly, albeit rather belatedly.
South of there, one assumes alternative arrangements as per the terms of contact.

Have you ever tried complaining to the BBC?

You make a complaint.

Six weeks later you get a response which - fundamentally - fails to answer the matter raised and contains a load of waffle about values and standards.

A bit like some TOCs really. :s

Ever noticed the BBC travel advice for the roads is always hours out of sync with the actual problem?

That said, the BBC has a lot more going for it than against it in my opinion.

Avanti's journey check (which is what they were pushing twitterers to use) is a bit useless. Just asks for your destination and then lists all services with delays. Which is a bit useless if your destination is Euston and you then have to hunt through a mile long list of services to find the one from Lime Street.

Seems like they really have become the Operator of Least Effort.
