All line rover and FGW sleeper

Sorry if this has been discussed before but was after some advice. I have an all line rover for this week and want to travel down to Penzance on Tuesday night. Can I use my ALR on the sleeper down to Penzance in the seated coach or do I have to pay a supplement? Also, how much extra would it cost me to upgrade to a sleeping berth?

I am sure that there is no extra charge to travel in the seated coaches

When I travelled last year on the Night Riveria using my ALR it cost me £40 for a single occupancy berth. Got tea/coffee in the morning plus a pastry and some biscuits.

Ok sounds good. Did you pre-book or just turn up on the evening?

Pre-booked the berth, as if you just turn up how do you know is available? Should be able to do it at any ticket office I would have thought, or certainly any FGW one at least.

Yeah, fair point. But I would be happy to just sit in the seated accommodation. When you booked it, did you have to show your ALR ticket and can you specify a single berth? Thanks

I thought all berths were single by default on the FGW sleeper these days? Only if 2 or more people are travelling can you share berths, that's what I was told.

That is correct, single is the default.

Incidentally, they've put the Volo TV system into the cabins as well...

That's correct, but if one person is in the berth it's £40; two people pay £30 each!

No I didn't have to show the ALR, but I did have to show it to the Steward when boarding the train. He showed me to my berth, asked what time I wanted a wake-up call in the morning and whether I wanted tea or coffee with my breakfast.

The ALR can be used in seating on the Night Rivieria for no extra charge - N/A to the OP (Tues night) but if travelling on a busy night eg. Friday in July/August would strongly advise making seat reservation to avoid up to 8hrs in vestible !
