Someone in one of the GA threads said the 379s would be staying on for 18 months which is believable as the 720s only just got authorised. The 379s will probably get leased (at a guess, upgraded to 387s and used at Southern as reportedly they want an all electrostar fleet)
once the older 15x get displaced from TfW they’d be a lot cheaper and a better use on other diesel routes instead of spending ages spending money on and converting 321s
The only 15Xs I would take from TfW would be the 158s and their door arrangement is not suitable for a lot of routes with the end doors increasing time spent at stations which is important on a lot of the stopping routes which 150s (which are getting old) operate.
According to wikipedia its 12 171's going to EMR
I don't believe that is accurate, some of the 171s I believe are going but a lot will not leave Southern, mainly because they haven't got anything to replace them. It has been said in another thread that Southern do not want battery EMUs to replace the 171s which makes sense considering the range of batteries and apparently the ones in the 379 trial were pretty worn out after a few years and would have to be replaced.
they shouldn’t have bothered with the refurbs. and yeah 317/321/322 will all be seeing the gas axe at booths/newport. tbh it would be way more practical to battery convert the 350/2s/379s etc... instead of 319s which are well life expired
317s will almost definatly be scrapped, the 321s (atleast the renatus) will probably get stored for a while until someone goes for the hydrogen units proposed by Eversholt. Ordering brand new DMUs isn't too popular as the DfT plan for all stock to be bimode/electric by 2040 so I wouldn't be suprised to see the hydrogen renatus units be leased by a TOC.
