Hi,

Had an email today after being asked for my NI number 5 weeks ago to say I will be contacted shortly regarding an assessment centre.

What is the next stage in the process and what can I do to prepare?

This is for the Holyhead depot ☺️
Hi! Congratulations. They'll send you the training pack for the assessments so make sure you use those to practice practice and a little more practice! Keep using the brains on these forums for any questions you have as I've found them really useful! Good luck!

Anyone had the medical? Do they take your BMI into account, my BMI is on the scale as obese despite being actively fit and playing sport every weekend! Read a few posts saying could be a stumbling block

I'm interested in an answer to this myself. I don't have a medical on the horizon (yet), but at 6'4" and just under 19st I can only assume my BMI would straddle the 'obese' zone on the graph. However I'm not on any medication, have had no sick days for almost 6 years. Until covid kicked in I worked in a prison gym where I trained 3-4 times per week and played badminton pretty frequently too. I play in goal for a 6-a-side team so I'm still light on my feet and when I look down, well, my belly hasn't quite hidden the little fella.
Would these factors be looked at favourably if my BMI was high?

No is the simple answer in your case.

As above, your BMI will be measured, but if you’re physically fit it won’t be a stumbling block. Interested to see where you read this would be the case, as I’ve replied to several of these questions with the same answer.

My BMI was high when I went for my medical for GWR, and I am just fat :D.

No two TOCs are 100% the same, but based on the fact that BMI isn’t an accurate measure of fitness for the very reasons you both point out, I doubt any company would base a medical fitness decision solely on BMI.

Hello, just wondering if anyone has been or is in the same situation as me. I was offered a date for my DMI coming up to three weeks ago, however I could not make it due to work. TFW said they would contact me in a week or two with a new date, however I am still waiting. Has anyone declined a date and got a new one?

Thanks :)

Hi Carli

I’ve not had exactly the same situation as you, but a while back I was advised Interviews would start W/C 2nd November. It got to the Friday before and I still hadn’t had been given an interview date, so emailed Laura. She was back in touch within 10 minutes with a date & extremely apologetic.

So yes, I’d say give them an email to see where they’re up to

I emailed them last Wednesday for an update, no reply :( I’ll email them again tomorrow I think.

Have you both had your DMI’s now? How’d they go?

Ahh the waiting game is torturous isn't it! I hope they come back to you soon! I've had my DMI, was super nerve wracking especially over video call. Technical issues threw me sideways a bit. Still awaiting an outcome at this point. Hope you hear soon!

I'm still awaiting my DMI result as well. It seemed to go well but as with every other stage so far I feel like I've failed.

My 2 week wait is nearly up so hoping to hear something today or tomorrow.

Good luck all.

@NewDirection Good luck! They are a good bunch at Holyhead. I wouldn't be a trainee driver today if it wasn't for what I learnt from some of the drivers there.

I moved away to Man Pic but being a driver on the HH routes would be nice I think.

Has anyone else had their computer assessment cancelled due to their Cardiff offices closing? I took my paper test 5 months ago now with several (frustrating but understandable) delays. I applied in 2019 for the roles where the DMI was before tests & it seems people who’ve applied for the second batch of jobs where they did assessments before DMI are now ahead of me.

I'm not entirely sure how I got through mine to be honest. Was beating myself up for days afterwards over what I felt I could have done better.. have you had yours??
No still haven't had it. I emailed Laura yesterday so hopefully she will get back to me soon. Been over 6 week since I had the mmi
