There may already be a post for this, but is it possible to tell if a booked seat on a Nova 1 is aligned to windows?

All seats are window allocated at the moment however there isn’t a way to see if your seat has a restricted view without knowing the layout yourself.

At the moment you will be able to move to a more suitable seat that you desire

Cheers. Yeah I’d have thought there would be space to move about, but given I’m doing the whole journey up to Newcastle soon, I thought I’d book a seat rather than take a chance.

Do TPE still do the 1st class upgrades for £10 and such like?

Weekend upgrades are still available for £10/£15/£10 respectively

Liverpool to Newcastle is £15pp

TPE upgrades are also available on seatfrog for all journeys but only one seat is available currently using this method

Probably best as there’s no catering. You’re just paying extra for a slightly less uncomfortable seat on the Nova fleet.

I forget which Nova the Mk5a is, but First in those is in my view quite special. In the 80x it's nothing fancy.

Mk5a is Nova 3.

For completeness, Class 397 is Nova 2 and Class 802 is Nova 1. (According to TPE anyway!)

They clearly had the forethought to number them in order of reliability

First in the Nova 1 has perfect window alignment, and the seats are really quite decent IMHO. But no catering yet.

I think they're numbered in the order of 'ones we're most likely to keep'
