Successfully tossing a pancake.

Other people's dogs running up to me wanting to play (although I think that one was in someone else's ban list on the other thread).
Never happens to me - the dogs are more likely to approach me begging for food. I don't mind, but I don't have my pockets filled with dog food.

Chocolate pudding, custard, and YouTube. What more could you want?

(Let's ignore the construction work, still continuing at half-past eight in the evening on a nearby house which hasn't had work done in ages - I promise I'm not grumpy ;))

EDIT: I'd also add BBC's Ghosts to this thread. It's a brilliant show, with its third series now on iPlayer. Very funny. :)

Another addition of mine would be watching a steam engine on the mainline at speed. Saw 35028 Clan Line at Kingham today and it definitely put in a good performance!

One that I experienced today:

Getting to the till expecting to pay full price and being told that the item is on special offer.

Getting an ex-Scotrail 170 on the Donny to Sheff service, and it’s one of those with a declassified First Class - and I know where it is.

Finding a tenner in your suit jacket that you put there in case there was a collection at the funeral: there wasn’t, but unfortunately the next time you wear it, it’s for another funeral.

When you sit in a reserved seat and nobody turns up to claim it.

Yes I love that. I use the blunt side of a bread knife to smash the big pieces of ice out.

Engine braking when driving is quite satisfying when you get it right.

Also seeing people at leisure at the beach / park / etc.

Driving round a supermarket car park, and a car leaving the space nearest the front door just as you get to it.
From experience it's much quicker to park at the quiet end and walk a bit further!

Also, when the thousand or ten-thousand mile digit on your odometer turns.
Once had a car odometer jump straight from 39,999 miles to 70,000 miles. Seriously unimpressed as not much you can legitimately do about that!

Forgetting that there's no minimum fare for 16-25 Railcard holders in July/August. Which means that you get a pleasant surprise when booking a trip which involves multiple low-fare tickets for travel before 1000!

Getting a free pint in the pub because you know the landlord / bartender!
Or slightly less, but still nice to see, when the bartender remembers your drink of choice and has it poured before you can even open your mouth to ask for it!

When you say a word a lot and then it proceeds to not sound like a word in your head- I'm just always amused by it

Sainsbury's have the facility which allows you to preset the exact amount. The only thing is that you don't get those extra dribbles of fuel just before the counter ticks over to the next penny.

Are you sure you're not from Yorkshire with tightness like that? :p

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
I love getting in and out of a supermarket quickly because I appear to be one of the few people who appreciates and doesn't have any issues with self-checkouts ;)

When online retailers send parcels with a faster service than their information would suggest - for example "2-4 working day" delivery being first class royal mail.

When I find a pound coin for the {trolley/locker} in my pocket just before going to the {supermarket/leisure centre}.

When I make a phone call expecting to have to go through a menu system and instead end up connected directly to a member of staff.

When people take ideas I have for threads on this forum and come up with interesting alternative versions of them.

Some more:
  • Going to bed, dreading having to do (insert thing here, e.g. work/school) the next day and waking up to everything covered in snow and the roads all shut, with no chance of leaving the house* - lovely. :)
  • Not really feeling in the Christmassy mood for most of December and then getting really festive a day or two before the 25th.
  • Realising that railtour you thought wasn't coming through your local station actually is and being able to go and see it.
  • Putting various GWR engines on the model railway and having a really nice view of them all.
-Peter

EDIT:
  • Spending so much time reading through the modelling section of the forums that it shows up as you having read it all - quite satisfying (and useful in a way!).
