Need to be at Crystal Palace Railway station for 6pm on 27th Dec. Will be travelling from West Ruislip. My thoughtS are Central Line to Bond Street, change to the Jubilee to London Bridge then take the 17.31 Beckenham service which gets me to Crystal Palace at 18.01. Any other suggestions please and would Oyster be valid all the way to Crystal Palace please?

That's probably the quickest route. Yes, Oyster is valid all the way as it's a journey entirely within the Zones (and hence the Oyster area of validity) :). That route would cost £5.80 (Off-Peak fares all day as it's a Bank Holiday Monday).

For a slightly cheaper journey (£3.20) you could travel via Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction. Or £3.30 for any route that doesn't involve an interchange between LU and NR at the "Southern Region" London Terminals (London Bridge, Charing Cross etc.), Balham, Battersea Park/Power Station or Elephant & Castle - so for example you could change at Farringdon, Canada Water, Brixton or Whitechapel.

If cost is at all relevant to, there are a number of different price bands for this journey you could take advantage of. As I say, if cost is material to you. Link below.

The other option would be stay on the Jubilee Line to Canada Water, then London Overground.
I haven't checked for engineering work, though.
I am expecting there to be disruption to Southern services due to shortage of traincrew, so you might not want to rely on a half-hourly service from London Bridge

Yes I hadn’t thought of the train crew problem. At least if I go to London Bridge and find there is a problem I can go back on the Jubilee to Canada Water then take the Overground or could potentially go to Penge West, Anerley or Gipsy Hill then walk (am going to Lightopia at Crystal Palace Park).

I will aim for the 5pm from London Bridge and check live travel info en route, that gives me time to go a different route if I Have to.

I would be very cautious

There are engineering works at Balham which means the Clapham Jn route will be tedious.

The Beckenham Jn route is peak hours only during the week - it is scheduled to run all day on 27th (perhaps because of the Balham work) but I would still allow some slack.
The Overground service is booked every 15min so is probably the safer (and cheaper) bet, if slower.

Duly noted. Thanks.

Beckenham route scheduled all day because its a Saturday service, and it runs all day on a Saturday. 27th is a Bank Holiday, not a weekday

It's a weekday, but is a replacement BH as Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a weekend this year.
What I was trying to get across, was its not a weekday as far as railway timetables are concerned. Indeed, for the period between Christmas and New Year, the timetable is usually based on a glorified Saturday service

Yes indeed.

My concern was more that the Beckenham Jn service is particularly liable to cancellation.

So, can anyone please advise the cost of a paper ticket bought from the machine at West Ruislip to London Bridge leaving at 3pm(ish) on the 27th to Crystal Palace via London Please? Would it be cheaper to split ticket West Ruislip to London Bridge then London Bridge to Crystal Palace Again on a paper ticket (person I am travelling with doesn’t have an Oyster card).

What about a contactless payment card?
