I remember 805 was the one in the platform at Victoria for almost the whole of the last day, even when the railtour came in.

That was indeed 455 805 parked there that day; as it happened the wife and I were passing though en route to somewhere else and I grabbed this shot of it.

Had a motor alternator fault. Sadly there were a few failures on the last day but at least there were plenty to choose from.

5805 was a favourite of mine, spent far too many trips on a Saturday morning bouncing between Bridge and Vic via Peckham on it when we used to get 455s on Saturday mornings instead of 456s!

Haha I guess 805 being stabled at Victoria during the final day was a good thing, albeit unintentional with the fault and stuff. I took some photos for people of them standing next to it...

That's cool, I was talking to other southern drivers on the final day who said how they prefer them to 377s

Think 5805 was also the first 455 to be unveiled at Waterloo back in 1983, and was one of the first to enter service (though the first three 455’s in service were 5803, 5804 and 5814 according to a source). A first for 5808 meanwhile was that it was the first one to be overhauled at Eastleigh in 2012, so it’s survived nearly 10 years since that C6X.

Saw both units passing Kensington Olympia on their way to South Wales. Sad to see both go having travelled on them many a time. I’ve got a little memoir from 5808 however - I managed to get the builders plate from 77594 on the farewell tour.

Anyone know which 455’s are booked in to depart on Thursday?

Most drivers preferred the 455s to the 377s but for the punters (aside from the shorter trains and service cuts!!!) the 377s do win I think.

You think.

I can now happily turn up at a southern station and know I'm never going to get on a 455 ever again.

455802 and 455829 are the two 455’s making their final journeys to Newport today according to Part Time Spotter. 66798 will be taking them there. Sad to see both go!
I believe these are the 21st and 22nd 455’s to be scrapped meaning that almost 50% of the fleet have now departed for the depot in the sky and it’s only been three weeks since they were withdrawn. Can’t believe they’ve been processed so quickly.

455804 and 455819 have now moved from Streatham Hill to Stewart’s Lane

Sims wastes no time in chopping up the units. If they had gone up to Booths Rotherham for disposal then they would linger about for ages!

Well they did get a head start, a few had already gone before the nominal withdrawal date. But it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise, the expected 4 units per week throughput has been mentioned a few times. 6 more weeks, and that’ll be that.

Who knows even. Strike week might get switched to Monday and Wednesday just like the jubilee week.

5Q55 1033 Stewarts Lane to Newport with 66798 455829 455802 at Patchway for scrap to Newport once again with the Arlington vans.
Only around 24 left now around half.
Very quickly getting through these.

Why is that? Are they easier to drive? I've chatted to a few class 317 drivers. They seem happy enough with them. They like the opening cab window and generally seem to find it easier to fix minor faults.

Same here. I hated the junk
Ditto. Occasionally used them on the London Bridge - East Croydon. Never the right temperature inside. Bumpy ride especially while accelerating and decelerating. Could go on and on with what i think is wrong with them.

Acceleration? What acceleration? Old man cold accelerate his walking frame faster than those units could... ;)

Noticed this morning that 455801, 455823 and 455844 have now left Horsham. Only 455817 and 455820 remain in the carriage sidings adjacent to platform 4.

They moved to Hove over the weekend

Anyone know which units are booked for their final journey this week?

Todays scrap move appears to have been cancelled. 455803 and 455806 should have been going according to PTS but the loco move from Doncaster did not go ahead this morning

GBRf’s 69001 took the Arlington 508 barriers from Doncaster to Tonbridge earlier today so I have a feeling that’ll mean tomorrow’s scrap drag will be going ahead

It is indeed, sadly the 69 isn't on the scrap move. 66793 is taking today's units, which I assume will be 455803 & 455806 considering they were due to go on Tuesday?
