By the end of this year, poss as early as october, there will be only be about 5 Volvo Olympians at Chorley for the X61 (route branding TBC), all the GMPTE School contract vehicles will be replaced...with........owww wait..;)

All B10M's will also be dissapearing and being replaced (not with others) going LF.......:D

Get ready for some cracking surprises and fleet upgrades.

Thats the logic but with ALX400 and Gez saying big suprises on the way I think we could be looking at new buses or buses coming in from out of the NW

I doubt new vehicles as its for schools (as in not new vehicles direct to Chorley). Vehicles coming from another region is a maybe however. I really have no idea, i tink it could become clear sooner then we think...

Well Kendal are getting New buses for schools

and it will also be interesting what first Manchester will be bringing in they must have 100+ school services with M, P and R reg buses on them

Can't see it being Kendal's Tridents; too new and the timings just don't tie up...

If the GMPTE school contracts specify 80 seaters or something, they might be waiting until schools have settled back in the September before lowering the minimum seated capacity to allow the Tridents to go on?
In which case, KL could keep the Tridents when they get the Scania E400's, withdraw the Leylands, then swap the Tridents with Oly's from Chorley in October?

Obviously could be far wrong, but its just a little thought

Yes indeed they are but that is part of a specific upgrade for the 555/556. However saying that I'm not sure what other services CYs Olys are used on.

I agree that saying KL's Tridents going to CY seemed like a daft suggestion just thought I would throw it out there. :)

14253 seen here at ME sat next to 14195...

Other alternative could be KL's 55 reg Tridents to ME and PR, sending S reg Tridents, plus some unbranded 04 reg Tridents, to CY.

Got told today that Lancaster Bus Station will be closed from around May/June for 5 months while a new structure is built on one of the car parks on Damside street . It is thought to be either a multi storey car park or flats. There may be a possibility for the Northbound side of the bus station to be used. I'm sure Gez will have more details.

Also Common Garden street is been re-surfaced at the moment every evening 6pm till 6am. One of the drivers was telling me he saw people waiting for buses at Common Garden while watching diggers taking up the road, LOL

To be honest theres not much point in that theres only 1 year difference and they may as well s send the 55 reg ones to chorley. I think Preston might be getting some new buses and then send the 04/54 reg ones to Chorley. Might not be right but just a thought

As far as I am aware (so could very easily be wrong) the only new vehicles coming into the north west for this order are the E300s for ME and the Scans for KL. Saying that however things may have changed and new vehicles could come in to upgrade the 68. I would seem like a lot of effort to de-brand the 2004 Tridents to send them to Chorley and brand up 2005 Tridents for Preston but it may seem worth it even if there is only a year between them. Also I believe there may be a bit of a difference when it comes to what state the 2004 ones are in compared to the 2005 examples. There is always the possibility of other vehicles been cascaded from other regions to Preston to displace the 2004s meaning something else could happen to the 2005s at KL.

For point of information here are some numbers:

Number of 2004 Tridents at Preston = 15
Number of 2005 Tridents at Kendal = 10
Number of Volvo Olympians (Not including X61 Olys) at Chorley = 10

Also worth noting that Preston have 3 spare Tridents on paper.

You could be right, maybe buses will come in from out the region and i think its absolutely disgusting that the GMPTE are asking for low floor buses for school services kids can easily get up the steps on an oly but i imagine when theres kids jumping on the tridents wrecking them who dont care weather they get LF or not but there will be some little old lady or someone with a pram struggling to get on a oly
and also chorley are giving away 9 olys not 10 keeping one spare ALX400 said

Yes indeed they need 8 for schools and as you say are keeping one for X61 spare.

It is amazing that SC are having to put LF Tridents on school work (if that is the case) when we still have Leylands in service (although actually they should be replaced by Olys when this all happens) But there's nothing SC can do about it so just gona have to bight the bullet.

More numbers lol:

PVR for Preston 68 = 13
PVR for Chorley Schools = 8 Olys and 4 B10s.
Leylands left in the region = About 14.

Also worth noting that on the period 10 fleetcard 17018/19 are shown as spares at Chorley. Doesn't mean anything but interesting none the less.

There is a very valid reason for the PTE bringing in LF access for Schools and College's, its called acessability and equal oportunities, most are now offering places to age groups who are wheelchair bound, and transport requirements have to be met, not that there are many but is has to be provisioned for all the same, not all operator's will require LF access.

New Vehicles have not yet been ruled out to replace B10M's or Volvo Olympians.

The 2 Tridents at Chorley are for the 125 Preston college service which again is LF access for wheelchair use.

There's 13 Oly's at Chorley, 4 for X61, plus the spare to be retained. Thats 8 out.

14257 still kicking and roaring, out on 30/31.
