I thought there was supposed to be 3 being delivered purely from an earlier post saying that 011, 017 & 150 were the next deliveries unless there was a problem with 017

Noted on WNXX and confirmed the trio (6Q77) have just departed Rugby going SOUTH and confirmed on Traksy

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

6Q77 now back on normal route northbound just shy of 120' late

Are all 3 units on this working?

Due to a points failure, the set is reversing to enable an alternative route to be taken
Assuming the points failure was at Hillmorton Junction, did the consist reverse all the way back to Milton Keynes and return using the fast lines?

No it seemed to be just north of Rugby, reversed all the way to Hilmorton Junction and then crossed over onto the Down Slow back through Rugby.
Which power cars are leading?

Thanks very much @Rhysdabeast I'm rather surprised that this delivery seems to have caused so little interest on this thread and social media in general
Probably because, at least for the moment, more 777s means a less reliable service, and so isn't being met with much enthusiasm.

If my adding up is correct, we are at the half way point (more or less) with the deliveries of the Class 777's with 26 out of 53 so far arrived. The latest arrivals, 777011, 777017and 777150 now added to the list.

Kirkdale C.S. = 001 to 018 inclusive, 036, 049, 140, 142, 144, 146, 148 and 150.

Another reason for lack of interest is in respect of the motive power bringing them into the area too. Rail Adventure Class 43 power cars in awful grey livery are not exactly enticing to record either, add to that the amount of barrier wagons included (I accept for brake force) in the consist and the Class 777's almost become non descript amongst the combination of vehicles. I just give them amiss frankly and when the Class 777's take over the whole operation on Merseyrail, than I will not bother recording them either and that is after photographing various Units on the system since 1981, as sadly the Class 777's have no character, bland and lifeless!

It's a funny old situation, some think the RA 43s look really good and I've seen many a comment about the 60s looking their best in the original grey, it really is a matter of personal taste of course, I really liked driving the MML 43s in Bambi livery but detested them in Stagecoach, as for boring 777s, you should try living down here with 700s :D

I do like Class 43's especially with the original Paxman engines but they are strange being on non passenger trains, it does not seem right. Yes, no reason not to use them on other trains but ........ ! Yes, I do like Class 60's in their original two tone grey sector liveries, they looked smart. :) As for the Class 700's, at least they look like a Unit.

Do we have any further news/updates (or even hints) on 8-car working yet?
With the Headbolt lane extensions, there can't be that many units spare for 8 car working once the service is fully 777 based. The rolling stock purchase seems to have been done on the expectation of zero passenger growth, which is unfortunate likely as if getting a seat is unlikely, passengers may well just drive. Hopefully they will take up some of the option for more units.

The way I worked out the stock requirements once all Merseyrail services are 777-worked, there are enough units to provide the previously normal six and three paired workings on the Southport and Ormskirk lines respectively. Whether this happens or not is a different matter, and I doubt the Wirral Line will get any of its six cars back (it used to have three in the morning and one in the afternoon rush) as the need has clearly diminished. The overall requirement will be reduced by two or three as the 777s' superior acceleration will allow time savings and save a few units.

Headbolt services will be run by the 777/1 battery units, of which there will be 7 in total, with likely 4 or 5 needed to run the normal 15-minute service (up from 3 or 4 on the old Kirkby service).

Ormskirk requires 6 units in normal operation, and I believe there used to be 3 or 4 6-car services in peak, so up to 9 or 10 total units to run Ormskirk normally.

Kirkdale currently has 20 777/0 and 6 777/1 as tallied above, so the unit numbers are already there. I would assume the next load of 777 deliveries will start going to Birkenhead ready to fill out each Wirral line, as seems to be the plan.
