I can confirm that 390044 has got NINE carriages I seen it in platform 9 at Glasgow Central today.

I'm not criticising or trying to deter IPT from querying something he had seen on the forum at all, it's just the way I and I think others also feel he has come across to people he disagrees with. Of course we all will disagree with what other people on the forum say at some point- that's after all what this very website exists for amongst other reasons- To discuss our love for the railway, discuss what we like/dislike about it and also ask questions/have a debate about something.

Disappointing though that the OP felt the need to blatantly lie to the forum to try and prove a point.

That's what I felt strongly against- the way the OP spoke to members of the forum, who he disagrees with & like you say Alter Ego, the way he appears to have perhaps not been 100% truthful in what he's said.

Yep- I definately agree with this. Everyone makes mistakes/ we don't know everything, so we should admit we got it wrong every so often.

I can conclude that:

There are NO 8-car Pendos reported

390044 definitely has 9 cars

390044 was nowhere near Manchester on 10/04/11

390044 was at Euston at 15:21 between 1M07 PRE-EUS and 1G32 EUS-BHM

Without adding to the argument, may I say that posts like yours are one of the reasons I love this forum, the way that facts and information can be passed on (and shared so quickly), the insider views etc.

This goes for all professionals on the Forum, not just the one I've highlighted, but it's worth mentioning.

Given all the corporate PR-speak (e.g. "new trains" turn out to be cascaded Pacers, cheap ticketing deals are used to hide increases to other fares), I love the fact that we can get information from the "coal face" like this

What I don't apologise for is being told duff information by the people who I sent the e-mail to @ Virgin and what I don't like is when people see fit to defermate me by saying things like 'blatantly lie' and then making up things to take the **** like some of you have wrote here

If I had the proof, i.e. been quick enough to get the camera out and film it passing and then be able to count it properly, I would have gladly posted that up and got you guys to confirm it but you shouldn't just shoot it down because I posted it up.

Like one of the guys said, if I posted it and queried it, it shouldn't give peope the right to shoot it down as quick as you did.

There were members explaining that it was unlikely it had not yet been reported (given the army of spotters and photters who are usually pretty hot on these things) - you were adamant you had not miscounted.

So I told people on a formum I am a member of that thefe was an eight car Pendolino running around. They were all like you miscounted!

A little e-mail latrer to the very helpful people at Virgin Trains tells me that I was right and that 390044 is missing a first class carriage due to bogie problems. Therefore meaning that I am right, as always, and now, there should be a long line of people with an apology!
