Anybody in the know about what has just happened to 2G51 (1419 Ormskirk to Central)? Passed Walton Junction at 1441 but didn't get to Kirkdale until 1511 (28L), and the service it should have become (2O36) has been cancelled due to "a problem with the brakes".

777003 has come into play on the Chester line today. 2C45 being it’s final service which is the 17:15 off Chester and 18:00 off central :)

Thanks managed to get a ride in it earlier. Very smooth ride but those seats must have been designed by someone who enjoys standing up on trains!!!!

I'd actually like to see a 777 in TfW white and red, I reckon it could look really good!

It's now been some months since I did a 777, I may be willing to make an effort for them again soon. One should keep an eye out on my trip reports thread in the near future to find out when this happens!

I am saddened to hear that the 777s are still not behaving, but hopefully that's going to change soon.

I also have this problem. Even though I have recently been making frequent trips to Fazakerley hospital, I have yet to have the opportunity to use a 777 to get there.

It is a shame that their introduction still isn’t going smoothly, even on the Ormskirk and Kirkby lines that have had them for months now, let alone the Wirral, with Southport now suffering from a shortage of remaining 507/508s likely to go through to 2024-25.

What’s not going smoothly on the Ormskirk/Kirkby lines, a vast improvement lately. The Wirral will get there eventually

A lot of the disruption recently hasn't been 777 related... lack of crew, police incidents etc over the last week or so.

As I said I haven’t had a chance to get on the Ormskirk or Kirkby lines on a 777 since their initial introduction. I reached Ormskirk on the first ever service, but haven’t seen them on the Wirral at all.
Totally agree with your comments. I was out on Merseyrail on Tuesday and maybe I was just lucky but all trains were running smoothly.
This is very good news then. It is nice to see a bit of optimism about the future of the service.

Generally they are getting much better on Ormskirk and Kirkby lines. I’d say they are comparable to the 507/508 in terms of number of failed units per week at the moment. So much better than a couple of weeks ago

Could anyone please confirm whether Tuesday 12th September was the first passenger working day of a class 777 on the Chester line, working a diagram from the timetable i.e. excluding last Saturdays additional run, which officially was the first passenger working on the Chester line.
Did 777003 work all of this diagram last Tuesday, starting with 2C00?

508131 out on the Ormskirk line as 2O03 this morning. Could we not even start the day with a full deck of 777s?

I'm due in Liverpool tomorrow for the first time in years, accompanying a friend to the passport office. As we'll be using the loop, roughly what proportion of Wirral Line services are likely to be 777s?
Though we will just get on whatever turns up, of course!

Today on the Wirral;
777002 - West Kirby
777013 - New Brighton
777003 - Ellesmere Port (First time)
Cancelled (Now 50X) - Chester

The plan I was told last week was to have the 777s be
1 of 5 on the West Kirby
1 of 4 on the New Brighton
1 of 3 on the Ellesmere Port
3 of 6 on the Chester (this has yet to be achieved)

Totalling of 6 out of 18 so a third of the diagrams

Disclaimer this could all of course been changed since my last conversation.

Thanks. To be honest I'm a little on the fence about what I want anyway. I'll have three decades to try out the 777s so maybe I'd rather have a 507/508 while I still can!

and of course it is West Kirby not West Kirkby, completely different place (in every sense) to Kirkby

That agrees more or less with my Wirral observations Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon except (as commented) Chester was 1 of 6.
