I know from reading on here that NR tend to be notoriously slow. I got lucky that it was a month from me applying to being offered the role, but I know that’s the exception rather than the rule.
All you can do is sit tight, no news is hopefully good news!

Seems I may be your colleague in the near future! Got the job @ Warrington. How are you getting in with the onboarding? I’ve sent all mine back with the hope it may speed the process up ever so slightly.

I’ve done the same, everything gone back and approved. All that’s left is the DBS to come back, the medical which HR said won’t be before November with them moving in house, and then starting in Jan!

Only just starting out and trying a little to give back to this wonderful forum, so be gentle....
TEA - Trains, Equipment, Anything else - specified as an acronym for shift handover.
More detailed one could be FITLAP:
Faults & Failures?
Is there a legible record of the shift?
Trains - Diversions and delays?
Live reminders - what for and where?
Any electrical isolations in place or due to be taken?
Possessions - What type and where are they?
Week 1 exam they asked what does TEA mean, most of the acronyms the instructor gives you could be exam questions (Fishpond, wade, rear etc) seem to be possible exam questions!
Application has gone in for the Grade 2 Trainee Anglia Role, invitation to complete some online assessments came today Anyone with any experience of boxes around Colchester? What are the average grades and shift patterns?

Out of interest what position did you interview for? I’m plus two weeks now post interview and still waiting. But seeing people hear back a few days later with job offers.
I emailed HR and apparently bit of delay getting emails back to candidates for job interviews etc etc. They didn’t elaborate, but I’m guessing short staffed. Reason why a lot of people including myself are still waiting.

Colchester has a PSB at the North Station, where the main link is Grade 8. They cover the main line from Chitts Hill, just South of Colchester to Norwich, the Clacton/Walton on the Naze Branch, and the Felixstowe Branch.
The NYL workstations, which cover Brundall/Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth are also located there, and they are a Grade 4.
Other than that there is Parkeston Signal Box, which is a Grade 4 and Stowmarket Gate Box, which I am unsure of the Grade.
Bury Yard is a little bit further along heading towards Cambridge but that is due to be abolished very soon as part of the Cambridge resignalling project.
Other than these boxes there are no others in the area. Shift patterns are majority 12 hours, but there a few exceptions which still work an 8 hour roster. Hope this helps.
Some people apply and get the job in a week, others, like myself, applied in December and got an answer in June. The railway is its own master! No news is good news.
No news good news, is Very much how I’m looking at it. At interview they were saying January four signaller school. I have a 6 week notice and to get a medical in, it’s starting to get very close to the wire if I was to get it.

It was the the grade 2 three bridges role. Yes I saw that people were getting responses within a week. I've never waited this long for a response before but no news is good news I guess

Hi Damz,
Fingers crossed for you. I was successful for the grade 2 TBROC role back in July. I have my medical on Monday with a start date for the 8th January. I had to wait about ten days before I heard my interview result if that helps at all.
Back in July/August this year I went through the application process for a Grade 3 Signaller and after interview was told I was unsuccessful but was told that my details would be kept on shortlist for any future vacancies. I thought at time I would not hear another thing about it, however out of the blue this morning received a phone call from Network Rail offering me a Grade 2 Signaller position starting in January. The phone call caught me on the hop so I asked if they could email me the details through which I am still waiting on.
So it was explained that this would be a permanent Grade 2 Trainee Signaller role in the Perth area and that would be for the purposes of initial training, and that upon passing out I would be placed to or apply for a specific box within a 60 minute commute of home address.
Have a coupe of questions I was hoping some of the many knowledgeable folks on here could answer.
Firstly while its a post for a Grade 2 position is there the likelihood that if there was a grade 3 position available could I potentially apply for/be placed into that?
The reason I ask if I would be taking quite a big drop in salary to accept this role and just want to get a full picture of the financial outlook so I can make an informed decision. Also once passed out if I was in a grade 2 role with Sunday overtime/ nightshift allowances etc what am I likely to come out with per month.
Also am I right in saying that Network Rail employees are also entitled to discounted rail travel? I do a lot of travelling (Not commuting) via rail at the moment that costs probably easily over £150 per month and obviously if this is the case it is something that I would have to factor in.
I am really keen to accept this role and while I fully appreciate I will have to drop wages in the shorter term during training etc, I just want to get an idea of the longer term situation as the decision obviously has to be right for the whole family with mortgages, bills to pay etc.

I am really keen to take up the post as I realise it is an amazing opportunity. The job I am in now pays well but its not one I enjoy anymore.
I have looked at all the signal boxes within in an hour of my address and while I cant find information on the grade of the individual boxes, most of them are open continuously and all but one are open on a Sunday.
The 75% off is also a major selling point as immediately that will save me at least £100 a month. Its not all about the money but just need to make sure can still keep up current commitments etc.
