that's as maybe... when are we likely to see any of these in service? I am getting worried that Avanti will lose its Voyagers with nothing ready to replace them. We already have a thinned-out service,so more trains are really needed now.
I would think the Voyagers would start to be handed back to the ROSCo when the 805s start to enter service.

Apparently Euston - Rugby being prioritised and will be done by December
Not surprising since it was reported in Modern Railways that Euston-Birmingham would be the first route to receive the IETs, which aligns with what @800001 said upthread, so definitely important that that is done first, there's little-to-no speed difference between MU and EPS between Rugby and Birmingham.

I would hope so, or even that the 805s would arrive so that all the Chester and N Wales services can be run before any Voyagers go!
However, with the way the railway is run nowadays I wouldn't be at all surprised if Avanti lose more Voyagers and services are further reduced before they creep back up to the current (unacceptable) thinned-out service. With the DfT pulling the strings I doubt there would be any official sanction on further service reductions, in fact the management would probably be patted on the back for doing it with a plausible excuse. ("Not our fault, no, really... Honest Injun!")

Was rather surprised to arrive at Chester this morning at 4am to find a new 805(?) lurking. A quick look at RTT shows it's been doing some runs up to Rhyl throughout the night.

5Q31 2155 Oxley to Rhyl
5Q32 Rhyl to Chester
5Q33 Chester to Rhyl
5Q34 Rhyl to Chester
5Q35 Chester to Rhyl
5Q36 Rhyl to Chester
5Q37 Chester to Rhyl
5Q38 0407 Rhyl to Oxley

Apologies for the poor quality photo but lighting wasn't brilliant. Photo shows 805003 waiting on the through line at Chester early today en route back to Oxley sidings.

You are correct it has no interior, first thing I noticed!
I believe 805001 and 805003 the two Hitachi’s test units (not accepted by Avanti) have no interior.
They have various test equipment on board.

Pendolino style tables too... I imagine these will be a bit uncanny at first, a Pendolino style interior in a different train!
First class appears to be the same as the 745s and EMR’s Auroras from photos I’ve seen

I don't know whether this has already been covered and, if so, I'll delete it.
An 805 on test run stopped on the next track to the train I was on, with the D-F coach opposite. I hadn't realised that most of the seats in this coach are uni-directional. A beef about Voyagers from the dwindling band of people who like looking out of train windows (like me) is that most of the seats face away from the cab, so journeys in the up direction will be made trailing. In the new trains the seats mostly face the cab, so it will be the down direction that's irritating, instead. I wonder why they think a large proportion of first class passengers prefer to travel alone?

Because they do - the single seats are REALLY prized by e.g. business travellers wanting to work in private. The lack of these in Pendolinos is a bit annoying, particularly as people are more "packed in" in First/Standard Premium than they were due to the reduced number of coaches - before, a table for two to yourself was near guaranteed.

Standard, interestingly, has a very high proportion of tables with just 72 seats per vehicle (if I recall from above) instead of the more usual 86. It all looks very "Coach D"!

Thanks, I hadn't entirely appreciated that. Although always travelling for 'leisure' I personally much prefer facing a seat back rather than another passenger myself (particularly as I have comparatively long legs), the only objection I have is that some do not have even part of a window to look out of. And today, once again , I travelled in Pendo - K with one passenger hogging the only 4 seat table - sitting in window seat one side, bag on seat diagonally opposite, spectacles on table in front of seat next to him, drink on table opposite him . He could have had a single seat. Not that I wanted one of the seats myself, just reinforces your logical argument.

Going off of the full livery on 805005 which handily shows the number of seats per carriage:
Coach A has 46 seats + 1 wheelchair, with 6 bays of 4
Coach B has 66 seats + some bike space, with 8 bays of 4 and a shop
Coach C has 80 seats, with 10 bays of 4
Coach D has 82 seats + some bike space, with 10 bays of 4 (presumably the two extra seats vice coach C are due to the cycle space)
Coach E has 25 seats + 1 wheelchair
(For reference, voyager coach D has 52 seats, with 12 bays of 4)

Here's the pretty much finalised version of the seating plan I posted a while ago (based off of interior references captured by me and also some videos from other people):

Thanks, that's slightly more than I thought from earlier versions but still rather low density!

80 rather than 86 is still lower density of course. And I see Avanti have had the sense to put luggage racks in pretty much all of the deadlights.

Indeed, it gives a very fair choice between tables and airline seats in standard, roughly 50%, which probably aligns with the split of solo/business travelers vice families or groups.

Infuriatingly, the bay of two in first isn't actually aligned with the windows, the table is positioned parallel with a window pillar.

My Bold. I then realised that the table for the bay of two could be moved further from the cab so it in line with the first table for a bay of four, it fits perfectly. At which point I decided the logic must be so that the bay of two is deliberately not aligned with a bay of four - perhaps so as to aid privacy ?.

Potentially, alignment is perfectly possible as you say so that’d make sense.

If it was me I'd just sit at the table anyway and request they remove said items. I've done this before and a particularly unpleasant middle aged women with the fear of (I can only assume covid) protested, upped and then left with a massive huff. Made my day lol.

805006 to 010 were all outside at Hitachi Newton Aycliffe this afternoon, plus an UID 807.
