Thought I would add this info from the Non-Urgent TOPS request thread.

Looks like a slim service on the Hereford arm unless its a lot of 172s ?.
Extremely slim service. Only one diagram appears to be running, and the London trains are cancelled, so there’s only a train every 4 hours.

As regards the unit swaps for 196’s at Worcester. Nothing has happened yet due to cancellations.
Will they still go ahead tomorrow/whenever next possible?

I suppose we will see action when a diagram starting at Tyseley sets out with one 196/1 on instead of a pair of 196/0s. Currently neither have set forth today (too early to tell potentially) !. Possibly a 172 or nothing ?. I am not sure Worcester is putting out everything it has - would expect another 196/0 pair.

My take is that anything ambitious is not being undertaken in the midst of an overtime ban. Witness no 720/6s on c2c and only one of three diagrams producing 730/0s out of Euston.

Sorry, 172 or nothing on what service? The running diagram is a pair of 196/0s.

Only the one diagram out today due to major signalling problems at Worcester. They were only able to get one set of units off the depot this morning before the shunter booked off at 07:00. Absolute chaos with WMT & GWR Services cancelled.

The diagram that comes off Tyseley at 17:26 as 5V23 that seems to me what feeds the Birmingham / Worcester / Hereford set of services. This has been a pair of 196/0s but is due to be the diagram that feeds 196/1s into that set of services over this week.

Can drivers not do the shunting if necessary?

I'm still looking forward to when the 172s are fully removed from the Hereford route... they're a significant downgrade from the 170s

A quick update on the Nuneaton - Leamington service today. - The trains have returned and I have only observed one working today. This was 172008 on the 1837 Nuneaton to Leamington, so it looks as though the Sunday use of a 172 is continuing now we are in the new timetable period.

Will see what tomorrow brings!

I hope the Sunday 172 does continue, even if I do prefer the 196s. Having Coventry traincrew continue to sign 172s can only be a good thing.

I agree a contingency capability is very important.

It looks like the takeover of Hereford/Worcester diagrams by 196/1s (from 196/0s) did not proceed daily last week (due to overtime bans etc). So there will be some at least 196/0s on it. Wait to see if a 196/1 sets forth in the afternoon from Tyseley to feed into those diagrams.

I spotted a 196/1 on Hereford duties yesterday at New St, I can't remember the unit though, so it's definitely happening.

I was dying to get back last week with a good chance of getting my last 196/0 (012). I got the rest the Wednesday before but the service was too unreliable last week and so a lot less ran and/or could be used. It will come out in the wash anyway but I do wonder what the 196/0s will get used for soon. Progress of course is that the 196/1s will be more getable.

012 was working yesterday with 001 off Worcester. It did slip to a stand on the Lickey due to poor rail head conditions. First train up after the storm and no RHTT had run that morning. It was still running around later i believe.

This week they will attempt to swap all the 2 cars out as weren’t able to do it last week.

I believe there is a diagram on the Shrewsbury line for 2 x 2 car in the new timetable.

The Herefords today are run by:
- 196/1 (196105), 0839 off Hereford
- 2x196/0, 0938 off Hereford
- 2x196/0, 1039 off Hereford
- Something else (exactly what I’m not sure, possibly 196108?), 1140 off Hereford

As you can see, Hereford is now a majority 196 operation, if anyone can identify the missing train we would be able to know if it’s now 196 exclusive.

108 should be about as well.

Can anybody confirm whether any or all of 112, 113 and 114 have carried passengers yet please?

196112 is on 1340 SHR BHM
Then 1456 back to SHR

196108 on 1450 BHM HFD

196010+196009 on 1556 BHM SHR so /0s look to be out on this route now. I’d had a handful over the last year but nothing regularly

196108 arrived in Birmingham New Street about 12-05 ish
So, it ran the 1040? That’s shown as being 2x196/0s. To make matters worse, I just saw 196108 on the diagram that was operated by 196105 this morning! Either my eyes are deceiving me, or some unit swaps have happened during the day.

Just doubled checked the pic I took- definitely 108 on the 1450 earlier

No, it was 2 /0s when it left Hereford. I think 108 is on what was the 1640 ex Hereford.
