Arriva Derby news;

3511 seems to be permanent, it came from Tamworth for scrap preparations & had a new MOT & was pressed into service.
3560 has been withdrawn, the engine seized back in December & it has now been decided that it will be scrapped
3738 has been put into journey mark, assumingly it was rushed through due to the all over advert "give the bus a chance"

trent barton
462 & 482 have both been withdrawn, 827 is expected to enter service a Derby.
499 has transferred to notts+derby, the first solo SR to leave trent barton.
501 moved to Kinchbus a few years back so 499 isn't the first to leave them

Spotted 499 on the Rolls Royce service this morning.

The withdrawal of 462 and 482 is probably a bit soon over the last week the villager had missing buses (again) when more than one of the branded buses was off the road. The Red Arrow looked to had a missing coach today as well.

Had forgotten about 501! thank you for reminding me.

4 B7RLEs are covering today, yet again red arrow is draining Derbys resources, the route would last with coach spec single decks but trent want more coaches this year!

More coaches this year? Are some on order?

482 has been out of service for a while now as its needs a new engine and has been robbed of panels and parts. 462 from what I heard needs a new air tank and they aren't willing to foot the bill this time after it having had a reconditioned gearbox recently, and it constantly breaking down.

Trentbarton Optare Versa 827 has been repainted from Threes orange to TB generic bright red and allocated to Derby. Volvo 741 has gone to Langley Mill. Notts and Derby Centro 792 and Merc 1019 have gone for scrap.

If everything goes to plan, Nottingham City Transport's first batch of 12 Yutong E12s will enter service on 29th January.

They will enter service on 30/39/50, with two spares which will hopefully make their way onto a variety of Services.
I checked the tracking this morning and doesn’t seem to have gone ahead? Perhaps a last minute delay?

Would of thought 827 was to replace one of the withdrawn Solo's considering Derby is regularly short of vehicles.

Yes, one might have thought that, given it is rare to see a full service at Derby these days. Sixes Versas regularly breakdown. Not sure which route regularly gets a full service. I would think fare paying passenger numbers were down, despite the £2 fare.. I know TB want to increase the frequency of the Mickleover again (would need two more buses). There sure isn't any. That said, if the Zebra bid is successful, there may be in 2026.

827 is to replace 481 and two other versa are due when they are to replace 480 and 483. and 741 is at LM to be repainted at the ESU. And after a lengthy conversation with quite a few people 741 has gone as we have got the required 9 spare buses
4 B7s (712,715,716 & 717)
2 11m versas (846 & 847)
2 solos (491 & 492)
1 ADL (269)

which if you ask me is not enough at the moment

10% spare should be fine, but that depends upon how many end up on Red Arrow on a daily basis. Wasn't 712 at Derby? Wonder what colour 741 will be? Of course, 462 and 482 have also gone. Maybe it is the curse of the bright red livery (half of those so painted, withdrawn).

Don’t think this has been mentioned here yet surprisingly. Another loan at Hulleys from
Go-Coach is London Country liveried E400 SK07DZA 9001. It’s been regularly employed on the 170 over the past week, presumably a few of Hulleys own examples are down in Kent for repairs.

Unfortunately the 170 was running just one bus for much of the day today, although to their credit all cancelled journeys continue to be posted on Twitter which allowed me to change my plans where necessary.

Attached photos (my own) shows E400 9001 in Chesterfield working the 170 to Bakewell, as well as a few of its many retro adverts on display, and the classic moquette it has downstairs.

Skylink Express maybe?
I was told that 741 is going into Skylink Express livery, alongside 744. 741 is the best Volvo in the fleet (according to drivers) so would be good to see it on Skylink Express.

Unfortunately there was an indefinite delay in National Grid connection so it's probably more likely to be late February when they are introduced :(

Info from a few employees suggest that Skylink Express is getting 739 and 744, with 741 moving to either Notts or Langley Mill to replace one of then as spare
From what I was told today at work this is becoming more likely as 741 has now appeared at Broadmarsh depot and has not gone to Langley Mill as was stated to us previously. I can't say if 744 and 739 are both going to Skylink as that isn't my depot.

741 was a lovely bus to drive. I drove her around 4 times in the short time before she moved away will be missed by us at Derby.

It SHOULD be but we are in a state with quite a few RA coaches off the road. Any low floors are being used to cover that and gaps in the sixes as a few branded Versas are off road too. For example, today there are only 4 coaches out of the 9 which isn't very good. 269 was on it before that had enough and got taken off.

Makes you wonder why they run the Red Arrow every 10 minutes between the peak.. Not like they actually run every 10 minutes most of the time. I think 5 vehicles on it earlier. Presume PVR cut as don't see vehicles parked for so long at Derby. At least 269 has gone out on V1, covering for a Volvo.

In off peak its still quite busy so 10 mins freuqency all day stops with the headache of getting busses out the depot etc and makes the dutys alot easier to make. We need 9 to run the full ervice and with other stuff dying the red arrow does take a step back compared to other routes

Looks like just 3 coaches and 3 single deckers at the moment. Must miss the chance to use 741 on it.

According to a driver a grand total of 11 boards were missing at Derby today!

Over at Arriva, the ex Liverpool Volvos have started to be repainted with the first being 3739 thankfully.

Trentbarton Scanias 662 and 663 both tracking on Skylink Express along with Volvo 743, giving three branded buses. If that is 663, it is the first trip out since early November.
