On the way into Gloucester the other day and was thinking, are there any other “PSB-Style” signal boxes with MCBs outside similar to Horton Road?

I can think of smaller boxes with NX panels with MCBs (Parkeston for instance) but not many of the larger boxes!

I know Exeter has Red Cow the other side of St David’s, although IIRC it has a strange Crossing Attendant arrangement just for the wicket gates???

Banavie is an interesting one. Got a swing bridge too.
Controlled via CCTV or locally? I’ve heard of plans (pipe-dreams) for the Wherry lines bridges to be worked remotely, but I imagine that’s a good few years away minumum.

How is the level crossing at Banavie controlled can't be AHB surely?

From looking at streetview it appears to be closed. (If you look from the south side there is a train in the platform.) There is a crossing on the other side of the Caledonian Canal, but this seems to be an accommodation one.

B806 crosses just south of the station, assume its controlled directly from the box itself as can;t see any treadles or cameras on streetview.

Thanks. I suppose that it is not strictly 'just outside' the box. Straining my memory, didn't 'adjacent' = MCB1, 'line of sight' (e.g. Banavie and also Bollo Lane) = MCB2 and CCTV = MCB3. I realise that a lot of names and abbreviations have changed over the years.

The old MCB1/2/3 designations were only used by the Scottish Region.

Banavie controls 2 MCB-CCTV crossings that were formerly supervied by Annat Gate Box, they are just over a mile from the box, but still relatively close! It also has an MCB at the other end of the platform as mentioned, which is remotely monitored from the box.

Croes Newydd North Fork now has an NX panel, and directly supervises a MCB outside the box.

Deansgate Junction is a traditional PSB with a crossing outside, alongside a few CCTV crossings under its remit.

Driffield has an IFS panel, and supervises a CCTV crossing, a MCB "line of sight" crossing and an MCB with lifting barriers on a gate wheel.

Magdalen Road has an IFS panel, supervising a panel just outside. It was intended to be the "model" for all mechanical boxes across the country, with lever frames being replaced with a standard panel.

Saxmundham has an MCB outside, but its a VDU workstation. It did used to be an RETB based box with a panel.

Thorpe Culvert has an IFS panel with an MCB outside. Nowere near the size of a traditional power box, but purpose built as one.

Worksop hasn NX panel with a MCB at the other end of the station platform from it (around 170m).
