I have applied for G2 trainee for Crewe, so during IST I could be just given any area or choose one. It doesn’t matter which area you have applied for. ?Eccles & Astley G3
Glazebrook G4
Northenden Jn G3
Deansgate Jn G5
Although I wouldn't worry too much about the specific area , once you are in IST you can apply for any vacancies on the internal vacancy list so wont be tied into just applying in that area , in fact you might find there arent even any vacancies when you come to apply .
If you are on a T post then during IST it is the expectation that you will apply for vacancies on the internal vacancy list , if you get to the end of IST and haven't secured a job (which isn't unusual) you will learn a location of your managers choice but wont actually have a job there or be a resident at that box so ultimately you will still be applying for jobs internally .I have applied for G2 trainee for Crewe, so during IST I could be just given any area or choose one. Hey, sorry only just seeing this. As it's an entry level position, it was mainly about my skill set and how I would adapt that to a signaller role. They also asked what I knew about the role and why I thought a signaller role was important. Mine was over teams. Really relaxed interview.Thank you

Thanks mateHey, sorry only just seeing this. As it's an entry level position, it was mainly about my skill set and how I would adapt that to a signaller role. They also asked what I knew about the role and why I thought a signaller role was important. Mine was over teams. Really relaxed interview.
Hope this helps and isn't too late.
Cheers
My account says the above and says next step assessment centre. Then I have underneath that LAQ screening feedback that says what I done good and where I can improve but no email or anything to say I was unsuccessful. I'm assuming because of the feedback there going to send me a unsuccessful email at some point? Anyone in similar boat?Thank you for completing everything we have asked you to do so far. We will be in touch with an update as soon as possible, but please keep in mind this might not be for a little while. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with us./p>

ah ok! thank youHi, I’ve spoken to a couple of people now in this same position and it seems that it’s generic feedback that has been sent to possibly everyone, apparently if you contact them they say the decision hasn’t been made yet.

I applied on the 18th Jan, got an email on 23rd saying I had passed the tests, then on 29th got an email to say we need more time and will be in touch soon. Haven't heard anything since but my login portal has since changed an says it's at stage 3 assessment centre and gives me a tab to view LAQ feedback saying we will update you soon.Mine says this-
Entry Criteria Checking
Thank you for completing the test, your application is now being checked against our entry criteria. We will be in touch with an update shortly.i think mine is probably still at an early stage.
Gross pay on a grade 2 training role is 2177 without any Sunday travel allowance.Recently been offered position as grade 2 trainee signaller.
Can anyone advise the pay during IST and once passes out?
Im taking a pay cut for this role ( more interested in intrinsic motivation opposed to extrinsic). But would like an idea so I can gauge my finances more carefully
Thanks in advance
Is that gross or net? And for monthly or 4-weekly?Gross pay on a grade 2 training role is 2177 without any Sunday travel allowance.
I don't think they know what they are doing! I've had emails saying all of this, then got one saying they had no graduate roles? Which I didn't apply for anyway and have now further received two emails saying they haven't forgotten about me. Even when I press on the LAQ feedback it just refreshes the page.I applied on the 18th Jan, got an email on 23rd saying I had passed the tests, then on 29th got an email to say we need more time and will be in touch soon. Youll be paid the G2 salary whilst at IST whch is currently £32210 so £2477.68 before tax/other deductions every 4 weeks with the next pay day on the 1st marchRecently been offered position as grade 2 trainee signaller.

Pensions are taken before tax so its either 4% for the NRDC scheme , 7.24% for the care scheme or 7% if you join the RPS
After IST when you start training at a location youll be paid the grade unless it is higher than a 4 , in which case you get a 4 whilst training and the grade when you pass out at the location .
During IST you should be put up in a hotel for the duration of training Monday to Friday morning . If you are more than 90mins away then you should be put up Sunday night as well and paid travel time on a sunday .
£2193 . As per the new reduced NI reduction etc.Gross pay on a grade 2 training role is 2177 without any Sunday travel allowance.

Seems a little low for gross of £32200 for both monthly/4 weekly - unless I am working something out wrong (which may well be the case!)
Sorry for jumping in - starting G2 soon and also interested in planning finances
Thanks!
I did my online tests on 23 jan, same day got an email saying that we have received your assessment. Nothing since. Dont have access to LAQ feedback etc. its all greyed out.I applied on the 18th Jan, got an email on 23rd saying I had passed the tests, then on 29th got an email to say we need more time and will be in touch soon. Haven't heard anything since but my login portal has since changed an says it's at stage 3 assessment centre and gives me a tab to view LAQ feedback saying we will update you soon.
It really depends on grade and how much you want to put in you can do 50K+ gross as a grade 3 if you are willing to work all the hours and it only rises as you move up in grade but obviously with the higher grade comes more responsibility and complexity! Thanks for everyones in-depth response.
I can manage off what people saying the net pay will be.
What can expected to be earnt 4-weekly when in the full time role? ,Shift allowances, overtime, sunday outside of the working week etc etc.
Much appreciated
I had the exact same issue and was told nothing could be done and that I could leave my application open and I'd be put as a priority if there are more vacancies at that box. I was annoyed as I'd emailed them weeks before asking for my test scores to be moved over and they confirmed it had and evryrhing was done.I emailed recruitment last week to get an update/chase up an application and got a reply saying they were in the process of screening all the applications and so forth, but not to worry everything is fine with my application.
I logged onto the ambertrack portal tonight and it says application withdrawn because I hadn’t completed the tests (I was told by recruitment I didn’t need to complete them due to an existing valid pass). I hadn’t logged on between sending them the email and tonight so I don’t know when the status would have changed on the site.
Is anyone else here in the same boat?
Is it worth another email to recruitment to confirm? Judging by what they said last week it should be okay?

I have done the 2 parts - 2nd part was online test and assessment. Done that if thats what you meant. Can’t exactly remember what was in that other than, matching shapes, colours and one where you had to do 3tasks together and that remembering dots thing as well. On the portal next stage is assessment centre and than final is outcome. When did you do your online assessment mate. Spoke to recruitment team and they said we are checking and will get back.Hi there,
Have you completed the scenario assessment yet? I had an email yesterday with a link to that and also a link to book an interview.

Does anyone know how strict they are in terms of commute time which has to be under 1 hour, mine was 1 hr 5 minutes. Sorry don’t know how to ask a new question in this thread.Hi, I’ve spoken to a couple of people now in this same position and it seems that it’s generic feedback that has been sent to possibly everyone, apparently if you contact them they say the decision hasn’t been made yet.
They certainly didn’t used to be strict but that may have changed, I know at least 2 people with close to 2 hour commutes.I have done the 2 parts - 2nd part was online test and assessment. Even if you live 10 minutes away you’re better off in a hotel with others for revision purposes. Will benefit you massively in comparison to trying to do bits at homeI have done the 2 parts - 2nd part was online test and assessment. Done that if thats what you meant. Sorry I should have put this question in a better way, what i meant was one of their criteria was that you should be with in 60 minutes commute from the box your are applying for.Even if you live 10 minutes away you’re better off in a hotel with others for revision purposes.
