Perhaps if HD08 ever materialises then 7 sets could be possible but will rely on train crew with the right competencies in the right place.
Probably far better to plan for five sets out each day out of eight, that leaves more than enough redundancy to deliver a reliable service, with one set a hot spare, and two on exam. The last thing TfW need to do is over-commit.

A good comparison is Iarnród Éireann, who have eight CAF built Mark 4 sets available for Dublin-Cork, and they roster 6 in service each day, but one of which only comes out for one trip Monday-Thursday in the evening.

What happened to 1V50, it left Manchester 44 late and is now 59 late, not a good return for HD03 thats for sure..
There was a problem with the DVT cargo door. A bolt sheared so couldn't get door integrity as the door couldn't lock. All sorted now albeit running late.

Terminating at Cardiff according to TfW journey check.
Looks to be following right behind a GWR service which probably helped the decision.

Seems 2 Manchesters in a row had problems with 197107 on the previous one being declared a failure and heading back to Canton from Newport in disgrace too

Not a good day for TfW then!

Tomorrow's diagrams are slightly thin on the ground, 3 sets out (HD01,02 and 03) but some swaps so all of 6:27 and 16:30 from Manchester, 12:49 and 18:55 from Cardiff will be units.
HD07 is scheduled a test run to Hereford tomorrow.

From Tuesday HD01 drops out for an exam but should then see 4 diagrams daily with 5 sets not on exam available, HD02,03,04,06 and 07 with one acting as a spare.

That's 12225. I'm in it now and quite a few seats say reserved to Kings Cross!
There's a couple of coaches on HD01 and 03 where the reset to the default to the "barcode". They really could do with at least covering up though now. It's not the best look.

Are there any signs of unique damage from sitting out for so long?
It looks exactly the same as the other sets. It was maintained on the exam cycle and just before it went from Crewe to Canton had a full steam clean of the carpets and interior. The only Real sign of its stint out is the stickers on the insides of the exterior doors are rather faded/washed out due to constant condensation with the single glazed windows in there but that's rather picky!! Don't forget the TO vehicles in HD01 and 03 have been out of service even longer (since the TOD vehicle was swapped in) and the ones for HD04-07 even longer still having not been used at all in service since their refurb so would last have seen passengers back in their East Coast days.

Interesting. Good to hear, I’ll have to see it.
