Dart on the 89 today been a while since I've seen one

That's probably because Wyre Villager E200 Dart 36184 was working off Preston today on the 11 to Gamull Lane.

Also had 84 branded Versa 25233 working the 9 to Moor Nook, while Preston Citi Versa 25225 was out on the 2A to Ormskirk.

Oddly the two Esteems that Stagecoach have now, 28513 & 28514, were both out on route 3 to Penwortham. First time I've seen ether of them on a route other then the 11 since their transfer to Stagecoach.

Finally, Preston have yet to rid itself of its final old Dart with 33204 still in service. Out on route 9 with the Versa above, an Enviro400 and a Pointer Dart.

In theory, both Esteems should be on 3's now, with 5 MANs, while 4 Versa's work the 11.

Nice to see a MAN at Lillyhall, hopefully they'll be out and about in not too long. Will be interesting to see if they're better than the MAN Enviro 300's! Actually, can they be any worse?

That's only if it survives tonights thunder storms! it is absolutely lightening up in West Cumbria!

Reading a comment on Richie B's Flickr, 22104 is apparently having some seats removed to have a Bike Rack fitted before moving to Kendal. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. :D

My understanding of it is there's 5 MANs for Lillyhall, with Kendal getting B10L's from Merseyside for 551/552 (A Merseyside driver has confirmed that they're sending the B10L's to "the Lakes").
Kendal's open top Tridents are having seats removed to have internal bike racks fitted (17012 was done before summer season started).
What I've heard could be wrong though.

Reays had Vario YN54WWV out today changing the timetable's at bus stop's. From Monday this will be the regular bus on service 95 branded as the "Village Hoppa" working from Carlisle depot. They also have another but not sure what the plate on that one is yet. 2 new Neoplan double deck Coaches due in July to replace to 59 plate Coaches.

Photos usual place!

Also, im told First have a Olympian on the 17.00 X95 tonight, shame the weather has turned awful!

Wonder why the hell they're getting double deck coaches. They had one 2 years back and sold it because they never needed it. Their only 59 reg's are the 70 seater Profile's for School work aren't they? Surely a Profile is better for school work than a new Neoplan decker. Driver has no control of the kids ar*ing around on the upper deck of one, especially where Wigton school kids are involved!!!

Workington Town's are fully low floor today.
47024 and 47616 on Moorclose Circulars.
20994 on short 302.
52628 doing a dupe on X4 behind 53336.
16734, 20923 and 35246 on 31. 16734 had a huge amount of thick black smoke come out of it when the driver started it up in the bus station. Smoke was pouring out of the exhaust when it was leaving as well.

I doubt it as no damage was sustained

Gez, I think you better have words with your nighbour, who told me about 36184. There was nothing wrong with it yesterday when it was on 89's.

36185 still have duck tape holding its front near-side corner together.

An unofficial PVR card attached. Lillyhall and Carlisle's seem to be correct, not sure on the other ones.

All the usual Sunday workings today.

Off Topic, but intriguing nevertheless and probably rather pointless, but the Competition Commission is going to look into the bus services market again. Apparently they've worked out that in many areas there isn't enough competition!

Press release from 6 May:
http://www.competition-commission.org.uk/press_rel/2011/may/pdf/2611_Press_Release.pdf

I find this highly amusing really as in effect it is the Competition Commission which has presided over a lot of the changes in the market (when cases have been referred to them) so effectively they only have themselves to blame.

There's a cracking paragraph buired in there, I forget which.
The CC discover that tendered services in areas where there aren't many operators don't get many bids!

How on earth do the CC justify their existence?!

Looks like 47484 & 47485 have both returned back to Chorley following their short spell of operation at Preston recently. I've found recent pictures of both working services in Chorley. Must have been at Preston for maintenance or painting.

Regarding 36184 and it gaining damage, could have been why it was back at Preston a few days back: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidsnwtransport/5695689017/in/photostream

The Neoplans are going to be used on trips out of the country etc. Im pretty sure it's 2 59 plates that are going but it could be 58 plate?

15686 and 22609 on 301/300 tonight.
47617 on 22:15 X5.
47007 on 46B/47/50B Town Service.
52627 on 685.
47616 on night 30's.
34716 on the 75, replaced by 33076.
34718 on the 93.

What time did 33076 replace 34716 on the 75? On a night time they changeover every hour just about. The 8ish one out of Carlisle should always be a Mini Pointer or Solo.

Darts are regulars on the 93 on a Saturday due to lower Citi PVR.

The only 59 plates are YN59 GPE/F, both are 70 seat B7R Plaxton Profiles. One is used daily on a Keswick School run which starts at Aspatria area, and the other is used on Nelson Thomlinson School. So I doubt these will be leaving.

The only 58 plate in the fleet is a Bova Futura, YJ58 LXO.

20908 on the 76
16649 on the 600 with 20436!
47022 on the 69s.

Reays new service 70 and revised services started today! In usual Reays fashion the brands were mixed up but they were carrying quite a few passengers on the Primo routes.

YX60DXH is branded for the 75 but is on the 63A
YX60DXE is branded for the 70
YX60DXH has lot its front Reays logo and is on the 64's but looks awful!

Photos uploaded!

The first revised "Love Carlisle" Dart should be out this afternoon....

Carlisle bus fire causes morning traffic chaos.

By Steph Johnson

Last updated at 11:35, Monday, 09 May 2011

A BUS blaze at Hardwicke Circus caused traffic chaos in Carlisle this morning.

The engine of a Stagecoach service bus caught fire at 6.15.

The driver was alerted by warning lights and parked up on Duke’s Road near DFS furniture. There were no passengers on board.

Lanes on the roundabout were closed while firefighters and police made the scene safe. But two hours later drivers were still struggling to navigate the city.

One said it took 20 minutes to get from the garage at Whiteclosegate on the A69 to Hardwicke Circus.

At junction 44, drivers heading into Carlisle from both directions were caught in tailbacks and traffic was stationary on Scotland Road. One woman was stuck at Kingstown Industrial estate for 40 minutes.

Cars were also jammed on Brampton Road as they attempted to get into the city centre. At about 8.45 police escorted Cumbria Highways vehicles round the roundabout.

Workmen had been called out to put down sand to cover fuel spills from the bus.

Paul Lee, engineering director for Stagecoach Northwest, told the News & Star: “Safety devices on the vehicle all worked properly and prevented further spread of the fire.”
