That

Interesting.

I wonder why they bothered to replace it. Normally it is just a case of push passengers to either Northern or Avanti?
maybe they are getting soime stick for not bothering to serve Manchester so often? Could even be costing them money...

Only Crewe to Manchester and back on 153s though. Could be worse
That was the idea but it didn't end up working out like that.
There was a planned loco swap with 010 coming off and being replaced by 017 in the downtime of going to Manchester, unfortunately it didn't really work out and the 153s continued to Cardiff.

Today at Crewe depot (3/9/24)
67015 HD01
67020 HD02 - going out tomorrow morning.
67010 HD04
67017 HD07 - loco has a fuel leak and are resolving the issue.

It's not great that pretty much half the rakes are at Crewe sitting doing nothing (exceptions of exams/issues etc.) when they should be in service.

Believe 67022 + HD06 is causing havoc on the Marches, seems to have vanished and showing as a broken down train between Shrewsbury and Hereford. 1V50, 67008 + HD05 is now also being delayed at Shrewsbury, most likely if it takes too long, won't end up headed to Swansea.

Why are the 67+MK4 sets so unreliable at moment?and will TFW get on top of it? And the catering unreliable too. As booked today on 17.14 Cardiff-Holyhead and return Tomorrow 05.30 Holyhead-Cardiff which switched to Thursday and Friday, same trains so as to try get full meal service.

It’s 197109 that’s broken down on 1V96.

Oh nevermind then, just assumed as the sets are not behaving at the moment.. at least we're not losing one again!

Unsure what that's going to do to the diagram though. HD03 is sat at Abergavenny, 06 is stuck behind 109, 05 is at Shrewsbury... one set has to get back to Canton and now journeycheck is saying disruption is expected until the end of the day. I wouldn't be surprised if 06 has stopped at a station somewhere to get everyone off as that is NOT moving.

Ironically having sets not in service and heading upto to Crewe tonight has been a blessing in disguise with the failed 197 as sets would have been out of place, no Mk4s will be now so all 4 diagrams are in place for tomorrow.

1V96 has now stood for almost 3 and a half hours, up there with the very worst of delays caused by any Mk4 set.

Looking at implementing single line working to get 1V46 past the striken 197.

Oh! How interesting. But isn't Crewe full..? HD02, 04, 07 and 01 are all currently there. Is 05 going to head back to Canton to balance it too? It might have to wait a while.

Yes I meant to say no sets heading to Crewe!
5 and 6 are both finishing at Canton tonight with 05 being tomorrow's spare.

Be interesting to understand how/why the 197 has become completely disabled. I assume that ordinarily a ‘mechanical only’ or similar coupling option is available to shift a failed 197?

Depends on the failure type, and that also determines permissible speed.

HD05 seems to not care and has gone backwards back to Crewe on 5V50..
Unsure what they'll do now!
Unless that isn't HD05, which I'd be heavily surprised.

It is HD05. Plans have changed and it should now do 1V31/1W55/1V42 tomorrow with HD02 doing the other Crewe start, HD03 Holyhead start and HD06 on Canton start.

HD07 is back out of use with the fuel leak mentioned by @Jacob Porrett on 67017 meaning that may need to returm to DB for repair.

There's a 2000 Craven Arms to Cardiff 1Z46. Is that a MK4 set?
Believe it's a restarted 1V46. It ended up being shunted into the loop to allow the Heart of Wales unit through so running on a different head code.

Well that aged well with 07, at least it isn't a set problem.

Good to see the diagrams being fulfilled tomorrow on the Crewe start and HD02 is back out. Still behaving mostly okay, despite a hiccup not too long ago.

Good on Transport for Wales for restarting the service and leaving people stranded instead of running it empty back to Canton
