Any other internals been asked to complete additional ‘Internal Application Declaration’ questions? The link is missing so I'll obviously email recruitment, but just wondering if it's the same?
The link was broken in the email. Log in to the career portal and there’s a link to the questionnaire there under your current application.

Thanks, I did exactly that later the same day and had no issues. Thank you though

Has anyone done assessments for southeastern recently?
If so can you share the list of the tests done?

Hi AWB2000,

Can I ask when you submitted your application? I’m currently waiting on an assessment centre date.
As the email stated there were thousands of applicants, I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. Railway recruitment is known to be notoriously slow. Not to mention lots will depend on location with metro depots having a higher turnover and subsequently more vacancies

I actually believe it is easier for externals to get chosen from my personal experience. I applied 3 times as an internal, passed the assessment 3 times and always failed at the DMI. I left Southeastern and went into teaching. I applied as an external last month for trainee train driver.

The process after submitting is usually they check you are a suitable candidate from your initial application (screening process), they send you to do the assessment in Tonbridge and then you have a DMI. The length of times between each part varies. When I applied last month they let me know within 2 hours I had passed the screening process and I need to wait for the assessment so learning to be patient with the process is important.
Hello congratulations. The assessment centre what sort of activities are provided and what is a DMI please.

The last time I did the assessment was in 2015 so it wasn't recent but I remember starting with the group bourdon, I don't remember the exact order after but I did the dial test, the test where you need to look through a 'telephone directory' while listening to high/low tones and the 'Glop' recall information test (these test were all done on paper).

After those tests we went onto the computer but again I don't remember the order. On the computer we did a reaction test where we had a keyboard with some coloured buttons on it connected to 2 foot pedals and we had to react to the colour shown on the screen or the tone. There was a test where we had to look at a flashing grey square on the screen and press a button when it turned black, there was a test where you are briefly shown a picture of a traffic situation and we had to tick boxes for what we saw in the picture. I remember a test with some joysticks and we had to move a ball around a maze, this was also on the computer and like a very basic computer game. We did a situational judgement test on the computer and I think that is all for the computer tests but it is possible I missed something but if you play computer games I believe it gives you an advantage.

At the end of the day we went back to paper and were shown some pictures depicting various scenarios and we had to write reports for each and then we had the multi modal interview, I can't remember the questions but you were explaining situations for example where you have had to follow rules. It was a very long day and quite a few of us passed that day too. I believe from what I've heard on here Southeastern only accept enhanced scores and use the visual search exercise now so it is slightly different to when I last did it.

The DMI is basically a job interview and most of the time it is with the driver manager.

I was waiting to do the assessment but they unfortunately withdrew my application last month and they asked me to reapply immediately. I did the M7SJT test 2 weeks ago but won't hear anything until after the 8th.

I got the email today to say I had passed the M7SJT (I was worrying for a bit) so I'm back to the stage where I was a month ago and need to wait for the assessment.

I noticed the date on this application has changed to 15/09/24 but I don't know why it has this date.

People failing Assessments, more recruitment needs especially nearing the national pay deal and the assumed amount set to retire etc etc.

Good afternoon all,

I am currently waiting on an assessment day date for Southeastern for the trainee driver role.

Apologies if I have missed it, but has anyone else heard anything or been informed as to when they'll be.
I keep intermittently e-mail SE to no avail yet.

I'm still waiting but I first applied in May, I was waiting for an assessment until last month when they withdrew my application and asked me to reapply which I did. I had an email on Monday which basically said to wait until contacted about the assessment.

When they withdrew my application from May they said as I had previously applied they will monitor my new application and process me to the next stages ASAP.

It is just a matter of waiting and being patient. In my previous experience of this as I have been through the process a few times before I know that you could be waiting weeks or even a year.

Got an email yesterday saying I passed the M7SJT but also in the email they said to be patient as they've had thousands of applications for the position. So I guess patient is the name of the game now.

Received my pass email for the M7SJT on 24/07 and haven’t heard anything.
I’m guessing the application extention to 15/09 will delay the process by another month or so.

The application extension is possibly due to giving people who had applied before June a chance to reapply (similar to me), so probably only a limited number of people.

I noticed they extended it in August and the dates coincided with the date they asked me to reapply by. It took about a month from being asked to reapply to being told I had passed the M7SJT (this was 09/09/24). They told me the morning after the closing date to complete M7SJT that I had passed so they were very quick.

They did tell in an email they would process me ASAP as I applied previously but there was someone on here who was asked to complete some additional tests and has been offered an assessment already and they were for the same depot as me.

I applied mid June, got my SJT in July and got told I passed in August and haven’t heard back since. Do you think I fall under this category of people who need to re-apply? Did you chase it, or did they contact you to first ?

I applied in May just before the June recruitment drive happened, I think it is only people who were waiting for the assessment before June who have been asked to reapply so you don't need to reapply.

They contacted me in August to say they are withdrawing my application as the advert has been closed and asked me to reapply, they gave me a link to an advert to be able to reapply.

They contacted me first.

I received an email today (25/09/24) inviting me to do the assessment, I'm for the Ashford depot.

I was offered any Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout October.

I hope this gives anyone wondering, an idea of timeframes.

Thanks for the info, when did you do your SJT? Good luck on your assessment!
