Congratulations on the pass
Do you remember the questions?
They were exactly the questions you would expect. Tell us about a time you had to deal with an emergency, tell us a about time you had to work to rules and procedures and tell us about a time you did something similar to that of a train driver, my mind is a little blank on the other 3 but there was nothing asked which didn't surprise me.
Hello,

I have mine tomorrow. Not sure if it was a cancellation as I had a phone call last Tuesday to say one had become available. Been revising the TPWS and info about the company. Good luck with yours
Thanks and good luck too, I was offered a day next week or a choice of 2 days in November and I chose a slot in November so that I can thoroughly prepare.

I completed and passed my Trainee Driver assessment session in early October at the Tonbridge test center.
I had applied back in June when an advert went up. According to the HR interviewer they had advertised again from August for a 2 week period, and had had over 11,000 applications in just that two weeks. So I felt quite chuffed I'd been selected in the first place and passed the assessment day.
Driver Manager interview in November and if successful with that a slot at Ashford for training from January 2025.

Research into South Eastern as an operating company with facts and figures I'm sure will help with the next interview and there are plenty of YouTube video's on train driver interview questions & answers you can watch and learn from.

If I get through all of that , what's the intensive initial training like for the first 3 months ? Really tough, or really really tough ?
Cheers.

Thanks and good luck too, I was offered a day next week or a choice of 2 days in November and I chose a slot in November so that I can thoroughly prepare.
Mine is in Ashford too, November 19th, the last day of the three sessions.

I was looking at an old Forum in 2019 and they said they got asked the exact same questions you were asked as well as:

'A time where you have worked for long periods of time'

'A time where you have been on a training course for 2 weeks+'

'A time where you have solved a difficult problem'

So they're probably still using the same questions.

Are these the kind of tests that will be happening at the 'Assessment Centre' ???

A trainability/memory test

Visual Search Exercise test

A test of Perception

A test of hand co-ordination

A written communication test

A situational judgement exercise test

A structured interview

A group Bourbon concentration test

Has anyone purchased the JobTestPrep Network Rail Assessment Centre & Online Test 2024 Guide:

If so....is it any good...?

The MMI questions were very similar to what they were.

I did Group bourdon, Tea-occ, Trp1 (the story had changed to what I did before), TRP2, WAFV, ATAVT, 2 handed coordination, VSE, SJT and then MMI.

I used the resources I found online and found everything I used to practice with harder than the assessment itself so you don't need to purchase anything.

The story of trp 1 was about the train braking system i guess

I’ve just had my invite to assessment centre for the first week of November. Exciting (and nervous) times! Time to prep for the MMI and VSE.

Which depot if you don't mind me asking?

I have had the same standard email as others (basically we'll be in touch).

Hopefully dates are arranged soon.

I applied on 7 June; I’m hoping for Dartford but would also be happy with Slade Green!
Well done mate and good luck! I wonder what the process is for picking candidates, I applied on the 3rd of June and completed the online assessment on the day I got the invite. Also applied for Dartford, assuming you did also.

I think it fundamentally depends on vacancies and turnover of drivers. Metro depots generally have a higher turnover and consequently more vacancies and a greater need

Does anyone know if its even possible to pass without completing all 25 questions ? Really worried about this and not sure what to do
Hi I did not finish myself but was on 25 when i ran out of time and did pass so its a yes but the pass mark does matter.

Hello
Can someone please help me, they sent me emails to let me know they would be inviting me for assessment soon and should be quick at picking a date when they do send me the invite. I need to be well prepped before that, is there anything anyone , who have just done the assessment have, just to help me ready.

Hi all,

I passed my assessments in early June this year (wish they gave you a pass mark) & have been waiting for confirmation of course dates.

I have chased this up & asked for an update. The kind people at southeastern recruitment have stated there are courses in the new year but no spaces available for the Ramsgate depot.

Is anyone on here currently working or have any experience with the recruitment for the Ramsgate depot? Something tells me it's not going to be a priority depot in terms of location & therefore not a priority when it comes to training new staff.

Anyway, I'm new to this so let me know

Ta

Not so much that it’s not a priority, more that it’s a “dead man’s shoes” depot where people only leave via retirement, and they have a steady flow of internal candidates: both qualified drivers relocating from the metro depots, and also guards training up as drivers.

Can I ask if the tests were mostly paper based or on computer? Or a mixture of both?

Thanks. LOL, yea I'm a Gooner unfortunately. Just found a load of videos on Youtube to check out. The tests don't bother me however I've never done an interview before and I'm 47, been self employed since 1999.

I’m in a similar boat, been employed with the same company for 26 years and haven’t had a real interview since 1998.

Hi all, June applicant here!

Have been offered a position as a Trainee Train Driver starting at the end of February 2025.

Just wondering if there is anyone else on here that is starting at the same time and could be on the same course date as me for Rules & Regulations?

I’m a June applicant also but still no date for assessment yet.
Can I ask what station you put down to work from?
