It depends on whether or not it needs a retrim and they have spare matching moquette for the seats. 496 and 497 both retained their blue interiors when transferring to Lothian.
Well after 8 years a refresh in interior is well needed

I think 510 has been given green upholstery?
This is correct. @FP transport v passed it on the bypass and they had clearly been changed to green.

Madder seating in an overall blue themed interior would look awful. Green while not perfect will suit better. 496/7 didn't have the existing moquettes changed but when they transfer (I believe they will) they should gain the green moquette as well. The existing blue is approaching 8 years of age.

I am curious as to whether they used the green similar to that of the old livery or a new green more reflective of the newer style. I would assume the former.

Can confirm 510 has had a retrim to green seat moquette

Lothian have put an alert up on the app announcing possible network wide disruption tomorrow due to the weather

All services suspended between 1000-1700, with buses returning to the depots from 0800. Edinburgh Trams are getting a fair bit of stick on social media, after they said a reduced service will run tomorrow.

I think everyone will stick either way. It’s one of those cases where you can’t win.

And yet Scotrail are getting stick from some because they’ve cancelled all services tomorrow so it seems the companies can’t win either way

The London BYD was doing a run by the Meadows about 7pm tonight with not in service on the display.

Much better looking than in photos

Trams out for the night, announced around 1300hrs. Buses slowly rolling out back into service since 1800hrs, basically every operator (train & plane too!) wiped out here in the Lothians.

I've only just realized that the current Skylink buses are numbered 498-510 and the native East Coast B5s are numbered 511-518. So joined together they form a continuous unbroken sequence of 498-518. So now I'm wondering if the plan, ever since the native B5s were renumbered from 2000x to 51x, has been to transfer the Skylink vehicles.

Although it looks nice on a spreadsheet, in practice I doubt the decision was solely based on the fact the numbers are in sequence.

Probably not but does it really matter

Nothing more than a coincidence. It’s just the amount of buses there are (15) make them ideal to replace 937-950 (14). They’ve not been repainted since new (bar 496-497) and all are in need of a retrim. The biggest winner is that it will standardise ECB to a single type of double decker, which helps streamline it.

Will 937-50 leave or be redeployed elsewhere?

There are still a few older vehicles than them in service elsewhere in the group.
I think the resale value for these vehicles will still be good for Lothian.

A significant investment will be made for vehicles year on year to achieve Lothians net zero promise. There are orders in place already for more double deck vehicles, and options being explored for single deck and airlink replacement.

In the next 12 months (and beyond) there will be continued deliveries

I did wonder if I was reading too much into it! I know a while ago Lothian was a bit stricter on that sort of thing so I wasn't sure if it was a carrying on from then.

Good to know.

Aside from the current batch of 50 BZLs nothing has been announced - are the orders for more of the same?

I believe another 50 are on order, though there seems to be issues with Volvo being able to deliver on time which is under review

Where as I’ve heard the total opposite - they’ve cancelled any further BZL orders due to all the issues they’ve had with the current batch (and that’s before they’re even all here yet!) Which is another reason for pausing.

The build quality on the BZLs are questionable at best, already a lot of rattles , feels like some parts are cheap, Also battery’s haven’t been great. Glad to see ADL ev possibly being looked at feel they have better quality. Yes everything will rattles eventually especially on edinburghs roads.

Its more than rattles im yet to get on one thats been warm, which is less than ideal at this time of year. Terrible buses

It would be nice if Lothian Country got some of the 937-950 batch to increase the frequency and expand further.
when the BZLs all arrive there will be enough spare elsewhere to do that. Those b9s dont need ran into the ground anymore than they already have been
