Hope you enjoy. It is planned for the Duke.I'm due on the EVR on Sat 21st Sept for Afternoon Tea....will it still be planned for steam or will I get a nice surprise I wonder![]()
Thanks for thatHope you enjoy. It is planned for the Duke.
31601 has made it's way over to the car park road so looks like it's departure may be soon as well.
If D1842 does leave it maybe going to another railway but it will also leave 73001 as the only serviceable diesel loco. D9525 and 73210 are being worked on at the moment though.Heard that 47 D1842 is returning to Crewe soon. Wonder if any different mainline diesels will be brought in seeing as the 31 is going aswell.

Thanks for sharing, I’ll be looking to make a visit when 80080 is runningThe 119 has been sold by it's owner and is now due to leave the railway.
80080 has finally exited the shed and is now on the new steam pit. Hopefully this is a sign of it returning to service soon.
Thanks for posting this: it's an excellent hour-long deep-dive and gives a very good insight into what makes preservation tick.Back in September we had Green Signals at the railway to do some filming and interviews with Neil and the team about what it takes to run the railway.
DMU - selected weekdays, also early Market Train from Duffield on the first Saturday of the month before running the incline in the day.
Last year it was only advertised on the Facebook page in the week before. It is now listed on the timetable page on the website. I remember correctly it was around 0830-0900 from Duffield. Will this DMU Market Train be marked on the timetable as such?
I'd like to visit the EVR again and a DMU run would give me a reason, unfortunately, steam doesn't interest me.
What working DMU's does the EVR have at the moment, is it just the 121/122?

W55006 is the only working DMU at the moment.

The 121 moved from the EVR back in the Summer and is now at the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway on loan.
I'm wondering now how the rebuild of one of the ex Severn Tunnel single car units is getting on.The 121 was the Chiltern unit, wasn't it?
I last had a ride on that in March 2020, about a week before the lockdown, it doesn't feel 5 years ago!
Excellent, something for everyone there. The 2025 season will start on the 15th February and will run through every weekend until November.
Typically:
Steam - weekends and peak Fridays
Diesel - some weekends in place of steam and summer Thursdays
DMU - selected weekdays, also early Market Train from Duffield on the first Saturday of the month before running the incline in the day.
Events so far:
Vintage Road and Rail Rally - Sunday 11th May
Back to the 1940's weekend - Friday 13th to Sunday 15th June

Thanks for the update.Work stopped, both units for disposal.
From March to November, it will depart Duffield at 08:20 on the first Saturday of the month. It runs to bring shoppers form Duffield and beyond to the monthly Wirksworth Artisan Farmer's Market.Yes, just had a look, it is listed as running on certain Saturdays, what isn't available is the time it runs!
No service today, so probably not open at this time of yearAnyone know if the EVR is open today to take calls and bookings?? Ringing the number with no success and cannot see any opening hours on the website
Cheers
Thank you...assumed it may be open in line with running days, but also thought it might say when ringing they were closed to save it just ringing and ringing. Google says open till 5pm and closed Mon/Tue/WedNo service today, so probably not open at this time of year
I presume Google hasn't been updated since the old Commercial Manager left last year who typically did Wednesday to Sunday.Thank you...assumed it may be open in line with running days, but also thought it might say when ringing they were closed to save it just ringing and ringing. Thank you..I have tried booking a day (10th May) using a voucher but I'm getting an error message about the code I have so needing to ring them to find out what the issue is and to book over the phone. We had a gift Countryman Afternoon Tea gift bought last Xmas (2023) and was booked to use it in September 2024 but leading up to the day, I injured my back and couldnt walk..I rang them and explained and they cancelled the booking and 'reissued' the voucher so that it wouldnt expire as no more dates were available at that time. I'm wondering if that is the issue but was assured that it would be able to be used in 2025 following the reissue...I presume Google hasn't been updated since the old Commercial Manager left last year who typically did Wednesday to Sunday.
Normally there is someone in the office in the week and as @Trainman40083 said we are not running today so it will be unlikely anyone is in except for maybe a couple of people in the shed on the loco's.
To add to the two events above the twin peaks diesel gala will return on April 11th to 13th with Peak Rail. The 2025 season will start on the 15th February and will run through every weekend until November.
