Has a 730/0 ever been to Liverpool? They've ran on their own from Crewe to Birmingham since 2021, but I haven't heard of them going further North.
Do TOC staff who sign 730/0's work any Liverpool services? I'd be surprised if they do.

I'm not an insider but I'd be surprised if the plan for 730/2's to Liverpool is going to be changed.
Quite a number of 730/0 were seen in Liverpool Lime Street on test from ATC Crewe.

Does anyone have an idea on progress with the 730/2s ?.
It has been a while since the 730/0s all seem to be in service.
When can we expect to see some 7030/2s in service ?.
I assume South WCML first, if not only ?.

Based on info I have been told, I wouldn't expect them to be in service any time soon

As others have said, not in passenger service but definitely on test. Here's one from way back in 2021.

730022 seems to have made it to the South WCML - Bletchley.
Reporting it as many in London, like me, might not have seen it yet.
I think all or almost all 730/0s have done a stint in service away from the West Midlands over the last year or so. This might be the last one ?.

Anyone know why they got rid of the orange at the bottom? Looks a lot better with it on…
There was a cover over the override prevention plates/buffers. That orange cover seems to have been removed/cut-back to expose them.

There is nowadays the unit number above the driver's window and also a white line across the front above the window line (probably the warning for overhead wires).

In fact the unit number on the side has appeared - unless it used to be so low it was hidden behind the platform edge.

New arrivals from the West Midlands on the Southern West Coast Main Line are 730022 & 730028. Seems they have been in service today.

Does any one know if unit 038 is currently in the Birmingham pool or the London one? Thanks in advance.

730 038 was certainly at Euston on 30th January... and they do tend to spend quite a while at this end...

038 is in the London pool on the MK diagram thanks.
There were no 730/2s at Camden. In fact the sidings were empty apart from 2 double sets of 730/0s.

Four x 5 car sets to move to Bletchley TMD imminently, if not already started.

Union involvement in meetings and 5 car testing post mods at Melton Mowbray this week.

I observed 730101 at UKRL Loughborough last week having some work done, including some exterior repainting.
730101?

Modifications to fix the ride and draught issues? Do you / anyone know what those modifications were, and when entry to service of 730/2 will likely be (I guess they might still need some authorisation/approval)?

yes 730101, it came out of Alstom numbered as such, and has not been renumbered yet.

Ah thanks, so what will presumably be 730201. Why did 730/1 become 730/2 anyway?
The order was changed in late 2022. Originally it was 36 730/0s for WMR services, 29 730/1s for LNR and 16 730/2s for LNR as well.
The 730/0s had no changes, other than 12 more being built, to bring it up to 48.
The 730/1s were originally intended as 2+3 units, while the 730/2s were intended to be 2+2 units - this changed in the order variation to bring all units to the 2+2 730/2 spec.

I've attached a few images of what the 730/1s were meant to be inside below...

Many thanks, very helpful! I couldn't remember exactly what happened as it had been so long.
