Seems the BBC chairman disagrees. More analysis and examination, less highlights. Not something I particularly agree with as I personally think the BBC show the bare minimum of match footage as it is.
I agree - the LAST thing I want is more Danny Murphy or Micah Richards!

( I wonder if it is a way to reduce the cost associated with buying the highlights )

No doubt, but it releases more funding for live quoits, toe wrestling and cheese rolling. The amount of live coverage they now allocate to these things now is incredible.

No thanks! I already record MotD and watch the football, only, on Sunday morning. I could not care less what Mr Lineker and his mates think (nor for his feeble jokes); Nothing they say makes the slightest difference.

The comments on the BBC News website seem to support my view.....

I wonder if Hyde United are looking to set a record for the most number of drawn games in the Northern Premier League...Premier Division? The weekend match saw a 1-1 draw against Whitby Town, meaning that they have now drawn 15 out of the 34 matches played this season, of which 12 have been 1-1 draws.
They still have some way to go. Colwyn Bay drew 21 of their 42 Northern Premier League fixtures back in season 1995-96. They only finished 18th (of 22), mind you, with just eight league wins.

On the basis that viewers have already seen the goals but need the analysis

In this day and age you could argue that the BBC could bin off most of the news and just have a discussion with their correspondents for half an hour

They already do a lot of that. You get a snippet of Keir Starmer saying something and a whole load of Chris Mason 'explaining' what we just heard. Perhaps they're going to start doing that with Pep, Mikel and Arne.

Manchester United have announced plans to build the biggest stadium in the UK - an "iconic" new £2bn 100,000-seater ground close to Old Trafford.

Wouldn’t they be better off building it somewhere in Asia as that’s where most of their fans are?

West Ham has sacked Moyes and Loppy and from what I hear the football is no different. I'm beginning to think Moyes was not the problem but the interfering chairman.

Then it's about time managers told the fans the truth.

Also I struggle to watch any games in that stadia which is why it's not picked for any tournaments.

Remember they smashed the stadium down to compete for champions league football. A bit like Arsenal did to compete with Real Madrid.

Moyes wasn't sacked, his contract came to an end. The football under Loppy was hopeless, with the players seemingly having no direction. Things have improved a bit under Potter, there is more effort and fight. Problem is a mixture of injuries and some of them just not being good enough.

One of the promises of the London Stadium was European football. You may have missed the recent 3 consecutive seasons of Europe + a trophy.

Yeah completely forgot about that.

Just once I would like to hear the champions league anthem played the West Ham stadium.

I'm not sure what my point was but West Ham come up against Moyes on Saturday. Be interesting.

Everton was always a bogey team for West Ham when Moyes was in charge (of Everton). I doubt that is going to change!

Oh dear, the wheels have just fallen off the Liverpool's Bus
1-1 after extra time, Liverpool had two penalties saved by the superb Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma and PSG face Villa or Brugge in the quarter finals.
Be interesting to see how Liverpool get on against Newcastle in the Mickey Mouse Cup on Sunday.

The matter was compounded as it occurred at the home Anfield stadium of Liverpool.

Seems to be a little bit of club envy there :)

I hardly think that one defeat (albeit an important one) hardly merits ‘the wheels have fallen off’ :)

Yes it’s terrible, they’re only going to win the league at a canter and very sadly can’t also win the European Cup now. What a failure indeed.

Darlington 2 v Radcliffe Borough 1

Darlo played very poorly and won with a last minute winner. Deserved a point at best. Funny old game

Not sure it's a failure, they'll most likely win the PL this season and have 50% chance willing on Sunday.
Failure is like Man U and Spurs, no trophies for either this season and neither in the top ten!! As for my team we play Man U Sunday and likely go down this season.

Cardiff City 1 Luton Town 2

This was looking very much like the proverbial must win game for Luton and, fortunately, it came to pass that we did win. The first half was very poor and yet we dominated a woeful Cardiff side. The second half really wasn't that much better and when Cardiff went ahead it looked like we were staring right down the relegation barrel. However, a moment of skill from Jordan Clark brought the scores level and then the winner was scored just after Cardiff had hit the crossbar. A very welcome three points in the bag, and keeps us in touch with a group of teams in the relegation mix.

Big night for Tottenham and Manchester United. A big fan reaction should any or both go out as that will be their season over.

I'm sure Chelsea will make it through.

Looking forward to tonight's games as a neutral.

North West Counties Football League...Premier Division

Lower Breck 6...South Liverpool 0

This Thursday Merseyside derby match saw Lower Breck score three times in each half and consolidates their second place in the league. They are now still a number of points behind Bury, with a game in hand, but do have a slightly inferior goal difference, but results such this do help in this matter. They still have four more matches to play this season, but all of these are away from home.

Their record is Played 39...Won 26..Drawn 7 .. Lost 6...Goals for 100..Goals against 44

I was at Stamford Bridge last night, yes through to the Conference League quarters but another poor performance against a team that are not great but gave it a go & their passing moving forward was very good.

Said it before with the exception of a few players every game the desire & passion from certain individuals is a disgrace.
