I gather they’re now considered a “link” at GWR Paddington depot, so there’s more scope than there used to be to progress onto more varied work, if desired, without changing jobs.

And before anyone asks(!) yes, they’re very much fully qualified mainline drivers, albeit the training is considerably shorter than most TOCs due to the comparatively tiny route card. Ex-HEX drivers can be found at various other operators in the London area, including Crossrail, ARL and EMR.

They're sort of part of GWR but also not. They're not a link at Padd as they've their own pay, terms and overtime agreements which are completely separate. Although you can ask for a transfer over to GWR it's considered a different company....... most of the time haha!

I would be surprised if anyone hears anything this soon after closing. Given that it closed after just a few days, there have probably been hundreds of applicants that will all need to be sifted through. Patience is the name of the game when it comes to railway recruitment.

Same here, I applied as soon as I saw the advert with Heathrow Academy, haven't heard anything back since, I've emailed the academy to ask if my application is still live but no response to date.

Yeah, thats a bit weird cuz since my application submission I have heard nothing. Checked my spam emails too and login profile at their website.
I think a lot of people are on the same boat as you. I will send an email to recruitment.

Can anyone confirm where I can find my application portal cause it won't allow me to sign in on heathrow express website and on first group it's not apart of my portal there either even though it's a gwr recruitment where my other first group applications are.... and since my application there's been no further communication for a video interview so it's like my application doesn't even exist.
