Incidentally 18540-3 were prepped by stagecoach Fife at Aberhill before heading south. In the recent past, out of interest, Stagecoach Fife also repainted some Volvo B7TL's for Lothian. The work on the Tridents for Rotala was just general engine work, cleaning, and MOT.

This is so ironic lol

Western have put into service their first converted London Trident 17388 (Y388 NHK) seen here:

Have been out and about in the Lakes today, usual stuff on 555's, however OT services not too great - 1x OT Volvo Oly, 2x OT Tridents, 1x B10, 1 1x 55 plate Trident (Lakeland Pathfinder Vinyls), not great considering the nice sunny weather, even other customers were complaining to the drivers. Must be maintenance issues at Kendal or something:oops:

A combination of Tridents being useless, 17012 being on loan to West and the others having bike racks fitted to blame for the poor availability.

Drove past Kendal depot this afternoon - no OTs inside, so I would guess at the Tridents being at LL while the Olys were swapping over at Windermere.

P&R contract is up for renewal. Preston Bus have cancelled the route in case they don't keep the contract. Obviously if they do it will be reregistered. This is to prevent PB having to serve out the notice period while another operator gets paid if the contract changes hands.

Would the Council not offer a short notice if another operator won this contract. seems a waste of time canceling a regestration every time a contract is up just incase they do not win it.

I don't know Andy, that's just what I've heard is happening and why. If operators are confident they will keep te contract, sometimes they don't even bother to cancel the route 'just in case'.

I suspect there's slightly more to this than meets the eye; PB may be wanting out, I don't know.

34219/34220/34221 all in service at Carlisle now however 33162 is the only bus took out of service so far. Should be a B10M coming off anytime now unless they count 20924.

Preston Bus run it commercially, with the County providing the infrastructure
PB also supply an employee to look after the Walton Le Dale site MOnday to Saturday
About a year ago, Preston Bus decided to withdraw the Sunday services, as they were not paying their way and I understood at the time that LCC provided a subsidy to keep them going, so presumably this is still in place.
Now PB have told the council non of the services are paying enough return and have cancelled them.
LCC were trying to delay things, presumably so that they don't have to pay anything out and the 4th August termination, has already been put back to September at least.

Finally saw 20918 out and about today, sounding quite a bit better than when it was withdrawn in October-ish.

16649, 16870, 20902 and 20913 on 30/31.

Likely to be a Preston example, hopefully an N reg is wahat I've heard.

Hope everyones OK. Also hope that it isn't a P/R reg example - certain depots are crying out for them!

I thought the 214 did not run on Carlisle Collage holidays,

Came passed the bus station on the Penrith scholars, presumed it went onto the 214. If College off then obviously not.... What does that board do now that there is no 71 to operate. Light back to the depot?

Thanks. Having seen the picture my first thought is arson, given the melting on the offside.

Probably started about halfway back as well...

16351 will be back on the road anytime now with the engine from 16353. Wouldn't be suprised if it went to Preston now.

Wouldn't be overly surprised if the Oly from Merseyside ended up there either once it's completely uneeded due to the ex-London Tridents.

52268 is on loan to Carlisle for the next 2 days, arrived today. Could not see 52027 in the depot so presume it's replacing that for it's short spell.

16351 has had it's engine removed and is awaiting the engine from 16353 now.

A STUNNED passenger has described his horror after the bus he was travelling on went up in flames.

Marcin Chaber was travelling on Stagecoach’s number 68 bus when plumes of smoke began pouring from the back as it drove along Preston New Road into Freckleton.

Mr Chaber, who was travelling from his home in Preston to work at Lytham’s Clifton Arms Hotel, said: “It all burned and everybody had to get off.

“There were about 20 people on the bus at the time. It was scary for everyone on board, there was a lot of black smoke.”

The fire broke out at around 11.45am yesterday as the bus headed towards Freckleton from Preston.

One passenger casualty had to be treated for smoke inhalation following the blaze, which completely gutted the double-decker bus.

Up to 25 passengers, including an 18-month-old, were evacuated.

Fire crews from St Annes raced to the scene and police closed the busy road as firefighters used eight sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel, jet and 80 litres of foam to bring the blaze under control.

Crew manager Jamie Plant, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The bus was well-alight on arrival.”

Passengers from the bus waited at the roadside for around an hour before a replacement bus came to rescue them.

Stagecoach bosses spent the afternoon at the scene assessing the damage to their vehicle.

Allocation of the day for Lillyhall; 22607 doing 51 towards the end of the day. Replaced 47024, which replaced 47023, which then sat on the annex. 22607 was a 31 running late.

22611 needed hosepipe treatment twice today. Once going to Maryport and secondly when it came back in from Maryport!

20918 back was in service today on 30

Think they are allowed.
After all, TfGM want things low floor soon which realistically means Trident ALX400s, and they have an almost identical seating layout to E400s.
