Another attempt for 5H70 on Saturday.
Would assume it's 219 going next if they keep going in numerical order, however it's currently heading to Cornwall and based on the timetable it won't be back in Exeter until after Saturday at least, 238 is in the same situation. Probably the last time both blue 150s will run together!

As the thread on 150202 has rightly been shut down I have opened this one to cover all aspects of GWR's 150s.

For starters there is a path showing on RTT for tomorrow morning - 0900 5H70 Exeter TMD to Wolverton Centre Sidings. One assumes that this either 207 or 216 going away for surgery but as these units are running as a pair today there is no clue there as to which one. Anyone know?

Thread reopened to allow @3973EXL to update

With 150219 & 150238 in Wolverton, it leaves 18 class 150s in the West Country. This morning all 18 are in passenger service, on their 16 booked diagrams and one pair vice 16x. This is the first time I have ever noticed this fleet hit 100% availability and I hope I am not tempting fete too much by commenting on it.

247 isn't in service until later tonight. I believe it is the standby set stabled at Plymouth

It still makes you wonder though who is preventing the Welsh units becoming spare - Porterbrook not wanting to spend money on overhauls for some of the better condition members of the class (though perhaps ironically still splashing the cash at the utterly hopeless 769s) or the DfT refusing GW or Northern to take on a few to at least provide some breathing space within the fleet.

While it’s good that GW are potentially getting max utilisation out of the fleet, it’s not doing them any favours being so heavily worked. Though they are the more bombproof members of the fleet and a jack of all trades at least.

Hasn't it already been mentioned the TFW 150s wouldn't get through the next major exam without some very serious work on the frames, hence GWR not wanting them, or am I making that up?

GWR are not in a position or not of “wanting” them. Porterbrook is not going to spend the money to keep them going and, at present, the DfT is not going to authorise their future use on their TOCs.

So, unless something dramatic happens, the Welsh sets are heading for the scrapyard.
