Seascale on the Cumbrian coast only has 2 platforms, but the lack of a bridge or subway connecting them results in quite a long, hazardous walk to get from one to the other.
How often do folk walk from one Seascale platform to the other?
I'd been thinking of mentioning this. It's not a pleasant walk on a winter evening.
It's one I used to do daily - the first train in the morning was rammed with Sellafield workers, so Seascale was the first place you could realistically catch it when you were going to Barrow. The railway car park is on the Barrow side, the council one on the Carlisle side, so whichever one you parked at you were in for a bit of a trek.
Semi-serious question... Is there all that much there at Seascale? Mawson's Ice Cream Parlour on the corner of Drigg Road, seems to be well regarded. Anything else?
Mawsons do a good cheesecake in their cafe too. There's a hotel, a bakery, a dentist, and a few other bits and pieces, including a reasonably well equipped health centre. Plus the beach has a glowing reputation...
I was also thinking Carlisle has a decent length interchange from P2 where the Cumbrian Coast generally terminates to P7/8 for ScotRail terminators, or even P5/6 if there's a couple of trains stacked up for Newcastle/Leeds.
