Clue: This picture was taken in 1990. The Route / Service still exists and in regular operation and the Station is a regular scheduled stop. The RM2017 Unit pictured that worked that Route was retired from Service on this Route in 1993.

Clue: Although the Station is still in use today and is a regular scheduled stop, some of the Tracks have been lifted. The Station is on a Route between a Coastal Port and a Mining City.

Clue: The Station is on the ‘Inlander’ Route - a Twice Weekly Train operated by Queensland Rail - Great Northern Railway.

Not Mount Isa - but you are getting close.

From the Clues:
The Destination on the front of the Train has been blanked out so as to not make it too easy – however this picture is not the Destination Station.
The Station is on a Route between a Coastal Port and a Mining City.

So you can rule out both ends of the Line! Somewhere in between.

So:

Not Mount Isa (Mining City / Town) at one end of the Inlander Route.

Not Townsville (Coastal Port / Town / City) at the other end of the Inlander Route.

So any Station in between that is not Cloncurry (already ruled out).

Not many choices left.

Clue: The Town served by the Station used to have it’s own Stock Exchange.
No-one could possibly know that unless they were a student of Aus financial history, or they lived there! So you can't blame me for googling - Charters Towers. The track layout and fashions in hairstyles both seem to have changed quite a bit since you took that photo!

Correct! I only know because I've been there. Well Done - over to you.

I had hoped someone may get it before the clues went over to non Rail Clues or possibly some of the Aussies on here may have recognised it. One clue is the fact that Queensland is virtually all Outback and Red and Dusty. Apart from the Coastal Strip backed by lush rainforest so any stations on the coast or slightly inland could be ruled out.

The next clue was going to be 'The Town served by the Station is a Historic Gold Mining Town'.

That was a tough one because of my old photo, there wasn't that much to go on in the photo as I left the Station sign cropped out although it was almost impossible to read! Maybe one giveaway were the Lights and that unique looking Mast/Pole

I didn't realise Queensland alone has 353 Stations!

Here is the original and a more up to date Photo for Comparison.

Alicante Terminal (not Renfe Torrellano - Alicante Airport Station)
Yes, Alacant/Alicante is also the name of a tram/metro station in Valencia. It was the 'Terminal' I needed, which is always part of the station's name in both Castillian and Catalan. I didn't see any bilingual sign that says 'Alicante' anywhere on the station though, it's solely Alacant Terminal (the Valencian/Catalan), but I'll accept your answer as both versions are used by ADIF and Renfe.

OK - Time for a Clue!

Clue: The Railway this station is located on is an isolated system. It has no direct connection to any other Railway.

The buildings look like they have been preserved as some kind of historical theme-park type set-up. It has a Rocky Mountain / Wild West feel to it. If this is the case the two countries are probably USA and Canada, and probably on the west coast.

It is a working town / tourist town so not so much a Theme Park type set up but the historic buildings have been preserved. You are correct with USA and Canada and its on the West Coast.

Correct! Well Done. Over to you. Had the pleasure of taking the train up to White Pass last year. The Reversing Loop at the top takes you over the Canadian Border and back into Alaska again. I believe the line actually goes as far as North Carcross / South Carcross in Canada but not as far as Whitehorse (the Tracks may be in place but not active). Fascinating history as the line follows the Chilkoot Trail the Goldminers used to trek into the Yukon before the line was built - you can see it at the side of the tracks. It's a spectacular trip and an amazing feat of engineering - well worth a trip if you are ever up that way.

Thank you.

OK - try this one for size. It's from a couple of months ago - not my photo, I'll credit it once we have an answer.
