Lack of OSI between Farringdon/Barbican

Farringdon and Barbican stations are connected through a lift behind the gatelines, however there seems not to be an out-of-station interchange between these two stations. It is also generally faster to use this interchange when arriving on the eastern end of an Elizabeth line train.
Why is this the case? Do people think this OSI should be added?

Are there any existing OSIs where it is also possible to change trains without exiting a barrier line?

This is the case for many large interchanges, such as Paddington LU, KXSP LU and Bank/Monument.

I don’t see why you would need an OSI, nor why you would use it: every train that calls at Barbican also calls at Farringdon.

If you arrive on the eastern side of an EL train, to change to subsurface you would either have to walk through the entire EL platform (considering how long EL trains are), go up to the street level and do an OSI, in order to reach the Farringdon subsurface platforms, which is definitely a longer route than walking to Barbican station.

If you use the lift, no. But there is only the lift between the EL platforms and Barbican station. Otherwise you must exit Farringdon station by the Long Lane exit then walk around the corner to Barbican’s entrance.

I don’t see why people would use such an OSI given that the trains at Barbican serve all the same stations as Farringdon, Moorgate, and Liverpool Street.

I’m surprised there isn’t one, given there is one between Bond Street and Oxford Circus. But equally there’s also isn’t one between Moorgate LU and Liverpool Street LU as that’s another situation where you’d be expected to interchange within the gateline.

Then you would just the use the lift surely? It's quite a long way round. There's only any point changing to Westbound services which is where the lift goes
