To be honest whilst they have a bit of breathing room thanks to the university holidays I think it would be disastrous for service provision if Kinch went into the next academic year without any new vehicles having entered service. Other than the classic and slimline Solos (1-6 and 478/479) which are managing to do their full boards most days and often cover evening services on other routes in place of a failed vehicle the rest of the Kinch fleet seems to be in a constant rotational state of being broken, and often breaking down within hours of being 'fixed'.
So are the Solos more reliable than certain other types? I did wonder how that Volvo BZL electric bus was getting on, compared to the ADL and Yutong products. (Of course we already know they ordered Yutongs, but you never know, other subsidiaries might not) . So you hope Kinchbus gets new buses for September. Ah well, it does have 30 days.

The situation regarding replacement for the threes was more urgent and delays on the production line were months rather than weeks at that time.

It pays to remember that during the time of the latter days of the versas it wasn't uncommon to have up to 12 off the road at any one point.

This used to regularly see extensive service cancellations so the need to drip feed them into service as and when ready was urgent
Quite amazing that many of the threes Versas are now still going. Assume parts are now more readily available.

I think their is an element that the original solos are more reliable than the Versas and Solo SRs but that the issues with the Volvos and Enviros is largely due to ongoing availability issues preventing minor issues being addressed until they are deemed an immediate safety risk or prevent the vehicle from moving.
It simply isn’t sustainable to have vehicles operating 16 plus hours a day, 7 days per week, on long distance work for more than a few weeks at a time.
I suspect the main reason for the Volvo demonstrator is to get an additional vehicle into the fleet in the short term rather than any serious intentions to buy as it is pretty clear by allocations elsewhere that the services it has operated would have otherwise have been cancelled.

It is.

Also assisted by versas being acquired for spare parts and the likes of 819 acting as a donor too

Not forgetting that they had to draft in 778-780 to assist, plus the fact that the Versas were supposed to have been replaced in 2021 so by the time the ADLs arrived they were in dire need of replacement
Originally 2020 believe it or not and with a brand new timetable... anyway!

778-80 were invaluable, plus there was 654/85/59 in the end which were also here for versa 'problems'

The latest arrivals for TM travel are currently being repainted, YJ58 FHO is the first I’ve seen in the same colour as Trent’s newest spare livery, FHO was 1903 at arriva Yorkshire.

1903 was FHD not FHO, FHO is currently with Arriva Leicester

Looks like an ex London vehicle now. Saves repainting those Solos. What's that Versa on the right, is that a TM one or a Trent one?

The Leicester clean air zone was abandoned at last minute and these were only transferred in at the beginning of the year, so well after the idea had been scrapped.
It's still mandated for Leicester's Enhanced Partnership

They should beware of that, it was only used for three days in Leicester!

It is slightly complicated, it isn't a legal requirement but is part of a voluntary agreement and whilst it isn't strictly enforced it is monitored and if operators take advantage they will probably resurrect the legal process. Essentially you can't increase your number of Euro 5 or worse vehicles from the number you had on a specified date when this started and should work to reduce but if you had existing vehicles you didn't have to replace and replacements should be better than the vehicle replaced.

Supposedly 7 out of the 9/10 new ADLs delivered for skylink have been or are going back to ADL for small rectification work, this could appear to be another nail in the coffin of Wellglade choosing ADL for future orders (with any luck).

With any luck....Says a lot about PDI. "It will do. They might not notice". Understand the new Yutong coaches are in the UK.

Unsurprising they should’ve gone with something heavyweight for the skylinks anyway - although evoras were/are apparently off the cards due to the seating type not matching what wellglade desire

Considering their workload and mileage the e200s dont seem to perform that badly

New red arrow coach on delivery, at this rate they'll be in service before the skylinks
Given the red arrow's were originally suppost to enter service in "spring", the skylinks were planned to be around July originally anyway so skylinks are probably the more on time ones

It's baffling that they won't go for a high quality heavyweight bus just because of the seating

It is... Still, I get to ride on Optares with their deep opening windows.. Earlier I caught Trentbarton 329. Can't say 4 opening windows each side makes the air flow any better.

The seating excuse seems false to me, although most Evoras come with vogelsitze branded seats iirc, there have been plenty built without. Some with Esteban Civics like for Arriva and Bee Network, whilst Lothian and Stagecoach have Lazzerinis.

Trentbarton use Civics, which as I’ve stated above have been used in new Evoras delivered in the past few months.

Arrivas new batch at Luton have esteban civics fitted and look quite smart.
