Rumour has it that said ticket was created for a Charter and has never been deleted.

The presumed "correct" fares can be found in the reverse direction, on route Any Permitted.

Cheers,

Barry

The trouble with posting things like this is that they will be seen by ATOC and then be withdrawn, It's best to pass these things at meets which any member can go to.

Agreed. However it's now all over news://uk.railway and has already come to the attention of people who work at Chiltern. So it's got to the stage where it may as well be mentioned here to be honest!

I'm not sure how quick they can fix it but I guess it won't be long.

Though if they're anything like Southern and their 25% off all Off Peak tickets that was meant to be Southern only, it could be a few weeks yet!

Which in this case is no bad thing surely? An obvious error rather than a loophole. While it's there it can be exploited, but it's way beyond saving money using legitimate means such as split ticketing.

Just bought a few and selected a railcard, so 10p return :) Just a little souvenir.

It will cost Chiltern circa £5000 to correct before the next fares round if they want to remove it earlier! They can't even see how many have been sold because LENNON is currently being updated by ATOC for another week!

Is this ticket valid via London?

You can only get the Any Permitted in one direction, and the existence of a Not London routeing implies you can, however WND and HDM share a common routeing point (in fact, they share 4), so the Routeing Guide says "no".

I would strongly recommend this thread is completely removed though.

Chiltern won't be on to it yet.

That said, it must not be beyond the wit of man to design a script that searches fares in Avantix and presents any fare under say £1.

I expect there'll be a raft of TIRs if any of these get gripped.

Once they've seen one they'll know management are aware of the problem so I doubt they'd bother filling in a form for each one. And, let's face it, management will know by Monday morning about this - if they didn't already know before. Expect it to be withdrawn, whether it costs them £5,000 or not, because if it got too well known they could lose more than that in lost sales if commuters found out!

Would expect it to be sorted fairly quickly.

Each debit card sale will be costing the merchant more than the face value of the ticket.

I can't get a ticket site to sell me one. It keeps saying "no trains available" - I only want a joke ticket!

Red Spotted Hanky gets <1p from every ticket sold.

They are still available for 10p on Red Spotted Hanky for next Saturday!

Are you using one of the awful thetrainline sites? Use WebTIS, no problems there.

would it be valid if someone had brought it though?

How can it not be valid? The TOCs have entered into a contract.

I believe the contract is formed when your payment card is debited, until that happens the merchant has the right to refuse the sale. This sort of thing has come up before with pricing errors on websites, for example Play.com advertising a dvd box set for £4.99 when it should be £44.99,they're not legally obligated to supply it to you for £4.99 until they've actually taken that amount from your account. Invitation to treat is the keyphrase I believe.

Had a look on Southern's website and it's also available in both directions there.
