Luton - Edinburgh.

Hi looking for the cheapest way from Luton Airport to Edinburgh on Saturday 3rd December. Flight arrives @ 07:05 so leaving any time after 07:45?

There will be three travelling all TOCNE railstaff. First Group employees so free travel on FCC, TPE, & SR.

Was thinking of taking FCC to Bedford, thence to Sheffield to connect with a TPE to Doncaster. PRIV SOS from DON to EDB is £11 (XC only) or TPE all the way via Manchester.

Any tips/info would be appreciated. Time is not the main issue - may stop off for a few ales at any recommended drinking establishments.

If so, the cheapest would surely be Luton Parkway-St Pancras-Kings Cross-Doncaster-Manchester-Edinburgh?

Yes, thought about that too. Might just do that as MML looks a bit of a slitter - although always seem to be on the ECM & WCL - so a wee change may be nice.

You could consider:

Luton Airport Pky (LTN) - Market Harborough (MHR) £5.40
MHR - Sheffield (SHF) £9.65

Total = £15.05

Then TPE Sheffield - Manchester & Manchester - Edinburgh at no cost using your First pass.

For an extra £8ish you could go via Wakefield, Leeds, Skipton, Settle and Appleby to Carlisle and then join TPE from Carlisle to Edinburgh. If you wish to take this option, split at MHR and Leicester.

Splitting at MHR should work fine, because the 0751 from LTN calls at MHR (0837) and you would change at Leicester for Sheffield (arriving SHF 1000)
