You can definately tell its a HST at heart, even with the yellow patch in an unusual place.

My XPT journey down from Brizzy was 2 hours late, train lost it's path everywhere it went.

Cheered me up on it to run into an ex-pat Brit on board, none other than RailCorp's former Chief Operating Officer, Andy Byford - who's since disappeared off to Canada to head Toronto's TTC.

Those sleeper compartments look cool, seated compartments in the day, and beds at night. Maybe it could be incorperated in next generation sleeper stock, so that it can me more utilised?

I did Goulburn to Melbourne. While the coaches are a Budd design the fittings are very Mk III, even the toilet door sounded the same when it slammed shut.
