  • Quite possible that we're the only bashers from that time who are currently active on these forums. Although I have marked any locos I've had for haulage in my Platform 5 books since about 1982 or 1983, it is only in the late 80s that I started bashing on a regular basis, beginning with 37s on the West Highland and Cambrian summer Saturdays).

    The diesel day on the Midland Main Line on 21st May 1989 was the first event aimed at haulage bashers which I attended.
    No, its 37275 and 37109 at Dereham during last year's class 37 gala. The thing I like about this picture is that the blue & grey mk2 gives the illusion that its was the 1970s or 1980s
    Thanks for that, i was on 1S19 on the 28th & never knew which 37's were banking. Only a teenager & first time on 1S19, so wasnt prepared when we passed them in the dark! The only record i had was 50036 into New St via Camp Hill. Knew others were on the train & having been trying to find out what they were ever since.
