Train driving vs. Formula 1 driving comparison

Moderator note: split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/9m50-9-car-pendolino-low-speed-buffer-collision-at-london-euston-05-07-2025.288912/ It must be very monotonous going up and down the WCML with a 390 every day. Back in the day drivers would be in 'Links' which covered different...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

I was on a 5 car Meridian from Platform 7 (bay) at Sheffield yesterday, will the Class 810's Auroras fit into this platform? Just as a matter of interest there were two consequetive London-Sheffiled's without hot food provision, on my train it was a water problem I heard.

The end of the Royal Train

Anyone spotted Belmond in the Wolverton area? :) I was very fortunate to work the Royal train once in the 1970's, it was the Duke of Edinburgh who over nighted at Old Dalby and the following morning we went to Oakham where the Duke alighted. We then ran round the train and went empty stock via...

Tree stops Glasgow - London trains in Lockerbie area (30/06)

There are two vast woodyards next to the WCML just north of Lockerbie, involve their help if required.

    Ely - Peterborough disruption (22/05)

Are there people of no fixed abode currently living in the area? Back in the day, when I got back to Leicester the train crew supervisor asked me if i had seen anything suspicious in the Narborough area after working 4M50 Tartan Arrow, Glasgow Bridgeton to Kentish Town. Someone must have...

Scottish Grand Tour pass vs. Edinburgh - Arisaig return

Back in the day Calmac used to run a couple of ferries per week from Mallaig to Kyle and back, I think it was Tuesday and Thursday.

    HS2 delayed again?

I am not 'in the loop' in any way regarding HS2 progress, but on a journey along the WCML a couple of weeks ago there seemed very little work going on in the Lichfield area.

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

Are we any closer to getting a legal ruling on this long running fiasco?

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

As Yorkslad12 said, the lawyers must be raking it in, where is the defendants money coming from, surely Youtube will not cover it?

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

I think that 'Never shuts up Liz' prefers to be known as Elizabeth. I get the impression that they have more support on their youtube videos than they do on other 'socials'.

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

Where in the passenger use table does Altnabreac come, surely near to the bottom. How many people would it affect if there was no longer an Altnabreac Railway Station? I know it would never happen but it would save a hell of a lot of money if it was closed permanently.

    Newark Northgate parking

I made my trip to Scotland last week and I used the NCP car park which is just past the LNER car park. The NCP is £4.95 per day and I think the LNER is about £14. I did have issues with the NCP one as it used to be a scan a QR code but now it is barrier less and I had difficulties booking a 4...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I was very disappointed not to have the full LNER brekky on the 0755 Inverness to Kings Cross train on Thursday, it is the Dine menu, and there was a Chef on Board, but apparently they were one or two staff members short, maybe there are vacancies at Inverness.
