I've been interested after reading about the Death of a 'shunter' at Dunster Goods Shed on the now re-awakened WSR. According to the research I have read from one or two online sources and two railway 'ghost' books the only information I have was that it was in the 1920's - 30's. Be interesting...
Hello,
I do a fair amount of 'snapping' on the WSR. I take a different look (I hope) to most Railway photographers I have met or seen.
My work can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/RobographyMinehead
At of interest, what jobs are available to be on the break down crew? I'm not even sure if such a thing exists although I have seen break down trains.
any info would be great
I read Shadows in steam but seemed to be more concentrated on each of the railways history in each of the stories instead of the stories themselves :( so a bit disappointing really.
But I will read ghost standing on platform one! :D
The Signal box in the picture is supposedly haunted. The Loco in the picture is the one that was supposedly a cursed loco (Physic telling BR it would be in a crash etc)

I read it in Herberts 'Railway Ghosts & Phantoms'. I know the second story you refer to as well haha.
That was just after WW1. The story was called ''Revenge of the old soldier''. In the story it's just a betrayal of friends which results in one committing suicide and then killing the other...
Something like that, one of my favourite stories. Ironically the signal box is said to be haunted too. Although I can't remember why.

Spookey!
I know the story. At Elsham I believe near the bridge. Story goes that the driver and fireman of a locomotive back in the 1870's 1880's had a fight on the footplate and consequently crashed it.
The two gents searching to debunk the story felt that the apparition was moving away from them as...
