    Guess the Station...

No I wasn't. Now, I haven't posted on this thread for, literally, years so I hope I'm within the rules.

    Antisocial behaviour on trains

As a regular train traveller I didn't know this until very recently when an announcement on an LNER train explained it, pointing out that it applied throughout the train and not just in designated quiet areas. Perhaps if that was done more often then there would be fewer problems.

    Help with a memory

I'm sorry I can't help @EastYorksLad but I just wanted to say how sad I was reading your post and that I hope you find what you are looking for and that life is much better for you now.

Eurostar cancelled due to strikes - unable to get to Brussels in time for rebooked train

I've travelled through Brussels to Aachen and vice versa on many occasions and learned early on not to rely on DB. It's led to some pretty lengthy waits in Brussels on the return journey when everything has gone right, but I've only once missed my Eurostar when things went terribly wrong. The...

Alcohol Consumption & Working on the railways

The Isobar at the Met Office in Bracknell was legendary. Some of the drunkest people I've ever known worked at the Met Office.

Alcohol Consumption & Working on the railways

Many years ago I was a member of a Working Men's Club in a northern town. The club stood between the Post Office's sorting office on one side and the railway station on the other. Unsurprisingly it was railwaymen and post office workers who made up most of the membership. I was a member because...

Knaresborough - modifications over the years

The answer might be on the station itself. I was there on Saturday and on the other platform there is a small display by the Friends of Knaresborough Station. I didn't read it all as I was on the way to Platform 1 from the Track and Sleeper, but it mentioned how the line was intended to be...

Railway stations with border crossing infrastructure

Do you know when that picture was taken? I've seen quite a few photographs of Bayerisch Eisenstein but never with that building on the platform as far as I can remember.

    Mobile Interrail ticket

Ah. That was what I was really asking about. But at least it allows it so that is good.
