    Timperley-Lymm-Latchford-Warrington line

From what I've read, it was a useful freight link that wasnt profitable enough to justify the costly refurbishment of the Latchford viaduct when alternative routes could be taken. Same as the Glazebrook - Timperley line really, with the bridge over the Mersey at Partington.

    Proposed Wrexham North Station

I thought the plan was for a park and ride station by the Rossett junction of the A483, at the bottom of Marford Hill. As is said above there needs to be more redoubling before anything like this could happen.

Altrincham - Chester line speed improvements

It's in Hale apparently. Even with the slow linespeeds it shouldn't take so long between Altrincham and Chester. I've gone non stop from Navigation Road to Chester before and it's nearly twice as quick. Electrification would make a hell of a difference.

    What's up with RA10?

When we assess bridges, we do it at the line rating (ie RA8) at the maximum permissible linespeed and also RA10 at the lower of the maximum permissible linespeed or 60mph. It makes sense how lines well above 60 can accommodate RA10, but below 60 you think the line would be just rated at RA10. I...

Merseyrail breach franchise commitments again by shutting stations

I was uni living at Smithdown Road at that time and went along. My mate who met me couldn't get anywhere near the Lime Street lower level entrance and I honestly thought she was going to get crushed. It was crazy, I'm glad they've thought about it a bit more this time!

    Automated Announcements

Atos do the outsourced IT for my company, ie someone in Asia replies to your query two days late completely misunderstanding the question. They also manage disability benefit assessments so they must have their fingers in a few pies.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority: Latest transport strategy draft publication

As a very mediocre bridge engineer I'd say it is very unlikely. Knocking down the houses that were built where the old signal box was, in order to build a footbridge would be welcome though. I'm sick of sprinting under the barriers as they open!

Greater Manchester Combined Authority: Latest transport strategy draft publication

The line between Navigation Road and Stockport would be ideal for more services. However the level crossing is bad enough now, it would never open at peak times if they added more to it.

Keolis/Amey to take over Wales and Borders

Not sure if this has been covered before but I emailed TfW a few weeks ago asking how many trains would be travelling between Wrexham and Chester under this franchise. After a slight delay I got the following response: From December 2022 - as soon as new trains are available - we will increase...
